The protection of children's rights has become one of the most critical global issues in the 21st century, demanding urgent attention and action. While significant progress has been made in raising awareness of children's rights, millions of children still suffer from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and deprivation. This complex and multifaceted issue requires an in-depth understanding of the challenges children face, as well as the actions needed to safeguard their well-being. 
    
  At the core of children's rights is the belief that every child, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or economic background, deserves to grow up in an environment where they can thrive. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, set the stage for international human rights legislation, but it was the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted in 1989, that provided a comprehensive framework for child protection. This treaty, ratified by nearly every nation, outlines civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights for children, recognizing their right to life, education, protection from violence, and participation in the decisions that affect their lives. 
    
  However, despite these legal frameworks, violations of children's rights continue at an alarming rate. Poverty, armed conflict, lack of access to education, child labor, and human trafficking are among the many issues that continue to affect children around the world. These issues often intersect and exacerbate one another, creating a cycle of vulnerability that is difficult to break. It is essential that global efforts to protect children are strengthened, and that all sectors of society—from governments to NGOs to the private sector—work together to ensure the full realization of children's rights.

  Historian Calvin Schermerhorn traces four hundred years of Black dispossession and decapitalization—what Frederick Douglass called plunder—through the stories of families who have strived to earn and keep the fruits of their toils. Their struggles reveal that the ever-evolving strategies to strip Black income and wealth have been critical to sustaining a structure of racialized disadvantage. These accounts also tell of the quiet heroism of those who worked to overcome obstacles and defy the plunder. 
   
   
    
  From the story of Anthony and Mary Johnson, abducted from Angola and brought to Virginia in 1619, to the enslaved Black workers dispossessed by the Custis-Washington family, to Venture Smith (born Broteer Furro), who purchased his freedom, to three generations of a family enslaved in the South who moved north after Emancipation, to the Tulsa massacre and the subprime lending crisis, Schermerhorn shows that we cannot reckon with today's racial wealth inequality without understanding its unrelenting role in American history.

  Simon Bolivar Buckner Jr. was a major figure of the Pacific War, both for his command in Alaska and in his key role heading Tenth Army during the Battle of Okinawa in the spring of 1945. Buckner was the senior U.S. officer killed by enemy fire in World War II when Japanese artillery cut him down on June 18, 1945, one month shy of his 59th birthday. The shelling ended a remarkable life – son of a Confederate Lieutenant General and governor of Kentucky, the “Child of the Democracy” in the 1896 Presidential election campaign, educated at West Point, myriad service as a student and instructor at various Army posts and schools from 1917 to 1936, command in Alaska from 1940 to 1944, and ultimately of Tenth Army from 1944 to his death.
  
  General Buckner kept a diary covering the period from January 1, 1944 to June 17, 1945, which has never been fully published until now. Buckner made notes every day, often in great detail; his chief of staff thought Buckner wanted to write a memoir after the war, but the papers were scattered after his death. In addition to the Okinawa material, Buckner’s diaries discuss his departure from Alaska and service in Hawaii as Tenth Army commander. Topics include his daily life in wartime Hawaii, troop training, comments on war events, gossip, notes on his travels to Guam and the Philippines, and his role in the Smith vs Smith controversy after the Battle of Saipan. The diary text is augmented by letters from General Buckner to his wife Adele during March to June 1945, and a letter from the Tenth Army Chief of Staff to Adele detailing Buckner's death.
  
  Tenth Army Commander is an important account from a too-long-silent voice among Pacific War leaders.

  Bhartiya Shoorveer was given because it felt good to speak in Hindi and our mother tongue is Hindi so I named the book Bhartiya Shoorveer. Now the question comes to why I wrote this book.
