From revealing, personal letters to brilliant essays on the nature of science, these three volumes demonstrate the breadth of Einstein’s thought. The man who became famous for conceiving of the equation E=mc2 kept his mind sharp through stimulating correspondence and applied his intellectual acuity to a number of important scientific issues. The second volume of the Albert Einstein Collection offers a fascinating window into how he developed his ideas.  Essays in Science: In these sixteen essays, written at the height of his intellectual powers, Einstein sets out his views on scientific knowledge, its relationship to human experience, and the underlying principles of any scientific pursuit. He discusses his own work in theoretical physics and its basis in field theory, as well as the many achievements of other scientific thinkers—including Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, James Clerk Maxwell, Max Planck, Niels Bohr, and others.  Letters to Solovine: This collection of personal letters from Einstein to his longtime friend and translator Maurice Solovine offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of his thought, as well as a revealing portrait of the man himself. Spanning Einstein’s career and ranging from philosophical discussion to personal gossip, these letters are presented in English translation alongside the German text, with facsimiles of the original letters also included.  Letters on Wave Mechanics: In this stirring collection of correspondence, four of the twentieth century’s greatest minds—H. A. Lorentz, Max Planck, Erwin Schrödinger, and Albert Einstein—discuss, debate, and refine Schrödinger’s then-nascent theory of wave mechanics. As the physicist Karl Przibram states in his foreword to this edition, “little needs to be added to the letters; they speak for themselves. Apart from their essential content, they reveal something of the personalities of the four men of genius.”

This work is the result of a great deal of reflection on the rich experiences of more than 50 years in Ministry. I recognize how many wonderful encounters I have had "AlongThe Way." As I reflect in my introduction, I sensed what Michelangelo felt when he observed a block of marble and had to “ release” David. I knew that if I had to "released” both the joy and challenges, ups and downs, questions and answers that comprise my many years of Priestly service. I attempted to do so for two reasons: to share the lessons that I both learned and taught because I feel that they resonated with The Human Experience With which others could identify, and as a source of encouragement two others to "tell their stories" and the richness that flows from them.
Through autobiographical sketches, a journey through various assignments, pastoral vignettes (mostly humorous but some very serious stories), I tried to "connect the dots" as it were between God and the experience of Our Lives. In focusing on various people whom I might have encountered I reflect on the value of relationships and how we are shaped by them. In my final section "essays" I attempt to apply my experiences and the wisdom gained from those experiences to some contemporary issues and common human situations that affect us all.

The memoir that inspired the two-time Golden Globe Award–winning comedy series: “Funny . . . heartbreaking . . . [and] utterly absorbing” (Lee Smith, New York Times–bestselling author of Guests on Earth).   Oboist Blair Tindall recounts her decades-long professional career as a classical musician—from the recitals and Broadway orchestra performances to the secret life of musicians who survive hand to mouth in the backbiting New York classical music scene, where musicians trade sexual favors for plum jobs and assignments in orchestras across the city. Tindall and her fellow journeymen musicians often play drunk, high, or hopelessly hungover, live in decrepit apartments, and perform in hazardous conditions—working-class musicians who schlep across the city between low-paying gigs, without health-care benefits or retirement plans, a stark contrast to the rarefied experiences of overpaid classical musician superstars. An incisive, no-holds-barred account, Mozart in the Jungle is the first true, behind-the-scenes look at what goes on backstage and in the orchestra pit.   The book that inspired the Amazon Original series starring Gael García Bernal and Lola Kirke, this is “a fresh, highly readable and caustic perspective on an overglamorized world” (Publishers Weekly).

Broadcaster Jacinta Parsons was in her twenties when she first began to feel unwell – the kind of unwell that didn't go away. Doctors couldn't explain why, and Jacinta wondered if it might be in her head. She could barely function, was frequently unable to eat or get out of bed for days, and gradually turned into a shadow of herself. Eventually she got a diagnosis: Crohn's disease. But knowing this wouldn't stop her life from spiralling into a big mess of doctors, hospitals and medical disasters. What's most extraordinary about Jacinta's story is how common it is. Nearly half of Australians live with a chronic illness, but most of these conditions are not obvious, often endured in secrecy and little understood. They are unseen. With compelling candour, Jacinta trains a microscope on the unique challenges of living with an invisible condition. She lays bare the struggles with shame, loss of identity, the threat of mortality, and the profoundly complex relationships between the chronically ill and their own bodies, as well as with those around them. It's a story of trying to fix an unfixable illness, getting beaten down then clawing back up, and how that experience can shape a life.

Amanda always had a thirst for adventure. Perhaps it stemmed from growing up without electricity and running water, in the middle of a natural wonderland. Along came Cocoa, her family’s new dog, and the two became the best of friends as they shared a love of the wild surroundings. But Amanda felt like there was something missing, something “more” she had to discover, and gets the push necessary to find it in the previously traveled land of Australia. When she unexpectedly falls in love there, her world is filled with excitement, newness, and even more adventure until the challenges from being away from her favorite companion and their magical world becomes too much to bear.
A spiritual memoir, a love story, a lesson in perspective and hindsight, this novel chronicles the “more” Amanda had been searching for - the very thread weaving it all together being the one she thought she left behind.
