Sinopsis

Tami is a free spirit. She is a professional temporary employee. No full-time job is going to tie her down. She loves meeting new people, learning new skills, and studying human nature. Her mother said she was nosy, but curiosity is central to Tami's life. She loves peanut butter sandwiches and apples, any kind of music, and the wind through her hair as she zooms around on her trusty red bicycle, Ruby. Her beloved mother gave Tami her first two-wheeler. She has ridden a red bike ever since. Late one night, Tami rides home from work. She and Ruby suddenly hit a huge pothole on the darkened road. The bicycle flies into the hedges. The damage? A lump on the head, a bloody knee, and a broken wheel! Tami is skeptical when a young man appears out of the dark to help her. But she has no way of knowing this is just the beginning of a mystery in the big house rising behind her. Her mishap drops her in the middle of a wealthy, unhappy, ambitious family...and a murder! Tami is on the case. The first of a series, The Two-Wheeled Detective introduces us to a watchful, curious, and tenacious young accidental detective!

Is there anything scarier than a homicidal hospital?

There's no love lost between Imogene and her boyfriend's mother. But when Eleanor is admitted to a sanatorium for her migraines, Imogene takes the high road and visits.

The hospital is housed in a creepy mansion with a chilling past. The medicines being used are a throwback to the days of snake oil and superstition. And while she's there, Imogene bumps into a newly deceased patient.

As hauntings go, this ghost steals the show. And everything else. Turns out Becky Riddell was being treated for kleptomania. Her influence is hard to resist.

Things take a sinister turn when dead bodies start popping up around the sanatorium at an alarming rate. Imogene knows she should investigate, but the last thing she needs is more drama in her life. She has enough thanks to the poltergeist that's been dogging her steps for the past month.

However, if Imogene doesn't figure out who's killing off patients and why, she'll have to move out of her apartment. Thanks to Becky's compulsion, she's pinched so much stuff, there's barely enough room for her and her cat. Besides, El would never forgive her if his mother became one of the not-so-dearly departed.

Paloma is dead. But before she was murdered, before she was even Paloma, she was a traditional healer named Gaspar. Before she was murdered, she taught her cousin Feliciana the secrets of the ceremonies known as veladas, and about the Language and the Book that unlock their secrets.

Sent to report on Paloma's murder, Zoe meets Feliciana in the mountain village of San Felipe. There, the two women's lives twist around each other in a danse macabre. Feliciana tells Zoe the story of her struggle to become an accepted healer in her community, and Zoe begins to understand the hidden history of her own experience as a woman, finding her way in a hostile environment shaped by and for men.

Weaving together two parallel narratives that mirror and refract one another, this extraordinary novel envisions the healer as storyteller and the writer as healer, and offers a generous and nuanced understanding of a world that can be at turns violent and exultant, cruel and full of hope.

Book three in the award-winning Pierson U series!
    IMOGEN KNIGHT
There are few people who infuriate me more than pretty boy basketball player Luke Bantempelli.
He’s all too aware there isn’t a girl on campus he can’t charm out of her skirt with nothing but a smile.
So when one accidental kiss in a Haunted House has us hooking up in secret, I know I’m losing my damn mind.
Catching feelings will only lead to heartbreak and I refuse to fall for the guy I’ve sworn to loathe for the rest of my life.
    LUKE BANTEMPELLI
It's no secret as a Pierson ball player, you can get just about any girl you want on any given day.
It’s a shame the girl I want most can’t stand to be in the same room as me without us sniping at each other.
Imogen Knight might be a mouthy pain in my ass most of the time, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to get to know that mouth intimately.
And the fact she loathes me only makes these little hating games we play all the more the interesting. But only one player can come out on top.

A boy named Calek lives in the town of Refuge on a quaint island in the northern Great Lakes. Growing up, he constantly heard stories about what happened on the Mainland before he was born, a huge conflagration that engulfed the entire world. All that remained were the Forsaken - drooling, mindless monsters who found their way to the island in boats, killing and maiming like rabid dogs. The people of Refuge fought them off with much loss of life, surviving as the last remnants of humanity and dreaming of the day they will repopulate the Mainland and start the world anew.
Sometimes Calek wonders if all of that really happened. It's what he's always been told, but maybe Hezekiah, the Spiritual Leader who runs things on the island, made the whole thing up. It would be a good way to keep people afraid so they continued to follow his Revelations. But if none of that happened, what about the rows of graves in the Refuge cemetery, all from the same year?
When he's not pondering these mysteries, Calek's mind is filled with visions about the Old World, and how ancient things can be put together in entirely new ways. Because he has a bright, shining gift. His father knows how dangerous that gift could turn out to be. But Calek is just eleven years old and his dreams will not leave him alone...
Calek's Tale is the first book in a new trilogy written by Wayne Faust.
With vivid descriptions of the northern Great Lakes (Faust spent several summers performing on Mackinac Island), richly-drawn characters, and a plot full of flashbacks, mystery, and suspense, this book will keep you listening until the end.
