Sinopse

"Deep into that darkness partitioningRemembering many happy, consociational dependenciesRemembering many smelly, lonely interrelationsMy termination, I could not awaken!"

From wild thoughts to verses by Sukanya Basu Mallik, is a short and sweet read for all. This is a collection of the young author's personal work tinged with both heartbreak and small joys of life. It has both old forms like sonnets and tankas as well as some Insta-poetry. Overall her beta readers treasure this one as a collection worth keeping. It centers around nothing specific in a rigid sense however it floats to-&-fro between topics of love and emotional loss, the catharsis of creating art, and the struggle to find one’s true self!

Reaching higher than the Tower of Babel, shining brighter than the Golden Calf, such is the idol of the future man will raise to worship. A rocketship of immense size and power, the culmination of the best efforts earth has to offer. By compulsion or chicanery, all have been forced to build it. And all will be changed by the Apocalypse its fiery crash from orbit ushers in...
In the Wasteland, where ignorant armies continue to fight, a small community is spared, eking out a meagre existence amidst the peril and threat. Always on the edge of disaster, they persevere in hope, with skills honed in the old world. After all, had not terrifying angels, visiting out of the dust, promised all would soon change again in the blink of eye? But, the young cannot wait, and a daughter of the tribe takes matters into her own hands...
The journey of man is the journey of earth, for all was made for us, and for us to destroy. And it is not just some men, but all who must choose, what is to be their highest value, the Ultimate. Will it be the rocket, in orbit high above, or what all men can share in equally: the love which uplifts every hand, every heart, and every soul it touches. Man's enemy might tempt us to lies and idols, but in the end we learn he who endures will be saved.
    Bio
His mind corrupted by childhood exposure to horror movie matinees, but equally enthralled by the atmosphere of old churches, Simon Pole writes cosmic poetry from the location of Kingsville, Ontario. A graduate of Harvard University, Simon has continued his studies of what is hidden in the dark. Writing is also in his blood, being the great-great-grandson of early Canadian poet Susie Drury.

Poetry. A form of words that seems so elegantly simple in one verse and so cleverly complex in another. Each poet has a particular style, an individual and unique way with words and yet each of us seems to recognise the path and destination of where the verses lead, even if sometimes the full comprehension may be a little beyond us.

Through the centuries every culture has produced verse to symbolize and to describe everything from everyday life, natural wonders, the human condition and even in its more hubristic moments, the crushing triumph of an enemy.

In the volumes of this series we take a look through the prism of individual regions of the United States through the centuries and decades.

The United States may be many things: the world’s policeman, a bully, a shameless purveyor of mass market culture but it also, in its better moments, a standard bearer for truth, transparency, equality and the more positive qualities of democracy.

Little wonder that’s its poets are rightly acknowledged as wonders of their art. Leading lights in the fight against slavery and for equality, even if the rest of the Nation is finding it problematic to catch up.

In this volume we have collected verse from poets born in New England. This corner of America where the first Europeans began to push the indigenous culture back from its home is a grid of small States that have been home to some of the greatest poets ever born anywhere, including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Helen Hunt Jackson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Kathy Lee Bates.

Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese-American writer and artist, began writing as a young man inspired by his rich cultural heritage and early struggles as an immigrant. His unique blend of mysticism, philosophy, and lyrical prose gained him fame with works that transcended cultural and religious boundaries. A hundred years later, readers still turn to Gibran for his universal wisdom on love, life, and spirituality. The Prophet, written in 1923, is a poetic masterpiece that follows a prophet, Almustafa, as he shares profound insights on topics such as love, freedom, work, and death before departing a foreign city. Each chapter offers timeless reflections, blending simplicity with deep spiritual resonance. This book is a must-read for its ability to inspire introspection and provide solace, making it a cherished guide for navigating life's complexities.

This 1 hour, 3 actor, 3 scene comedy is meant to be enjoyed with friends around the dinner table after a good meal and plenty of libations.
The premise: The two main characters, Albert and Larry, are 80 year-old twins who have been picking at each other all their lives. They share an apartment, have just purchased a new TV, and are having some difficulty getting it to work. Sounds simple, but things go downhill fast from there and eventually off the cliff when the landlord arrives. The play has a lot of quick back-and-forth dialog so it reads like a comedy routine. It can be performed sitting around the table if someone is reading the stage directions. Actual age of actors is not important.
Minimum props required: TV remote, cell phone, two pieces of paper with Awww! and Clap! written on them, two foldout brochures of any kind to function as TV Quick Start Guide and headphone guide. The rest can be mimed.
If your plan is to perform it onstage, go for it. You have my blessing as long as you credit the work. Posting a review with a pic of the production would be possibly hilarious, but definitely cool.
Reviews: The Lansdowne Times might call Remotely Annoying the funniest thing since sliced bread, but nobody thinks sliced bread is funny and there is no Lansdowne Times. However, this play has been fully tested and approved by 8 brave souls who, shall they rest in peace, died laughing.

Welcome y'all! This project was created for those who think they don't like Shakespeare. It is a completely unsanctioned and unconventional interpretation of some of the works of William Shakespeare. If you are a purist be forewarned! I have always been fascinated with the written works of Shakespeare since I was a child trying to decipher the giant volume of his works I discovered in my father's library. I knew it was important historically but the language had me often running to a dictionary in those pre-Google days. Understanding a live performance was an equally challenging task as the British accents combined with the lambic pentameter rhythm left me struggling to understand the meaning. But once you figure what he's saying you realized these timeless stories of dysfunctional families and political intrigue are just as relevant today as 400 years ago. Every actor in training experiences the works of William Shakespeare to some degree. While memorizing lines I would try various characters and accents. For Richard III's famous opening monologue I settled on a genteel aristocrat from the Southern United States. I shared with my instructor and after some initial eye rolls he had to admit it was easier to understand. Eventually I created a one man show around the idea and wrote original songs that I believe express the emotion and underlying intentions of the pieces. And of course what's a variety show without an MC or two. In this case two squabbling siblings Auntie Bella and her twin brother Beauregard to bring a small respite to the drama. During the COVID pandemic I decided to record an audio version of the show. I hope you enjoy my family of misfits as much as I did creating them. But hey, to thine own taste be true. Cousin Willy must have had a sense of humor to write some of this stuff!

Come join me in reading the one of Oscar Wilde's only remaining tragedies, based on one of the most notorious recollections of the Bible. A story of gruesome ends for gruesome desires that shocked many of the theater goers in the late 1800's.
Salomé, the daughter of Herodious, has become utterly smitten with John the Baptist due to his rebuke of her advances. This causes her to desire him and only him, even unto death. ... His Death.
Come listen to the play that was the inspiration for the opera of the same name written by Richard Strauss, and one of the very first embodiments of the femme fatale.
