You Are Looking Live! is about the genesis, success, and magic of a live television show that in 1975 captured the excitement of the country, and launched four magnetic personalities to stardom: Brent Musburger, Phyllis George, Irv Cross, and Jimmy The Greek Snyder. It was the first NFL studio show to go live and the first to have both a Black and female cohost. Those four personalities battled each other and the competition, and America loved them for it.

This is the story of how Brent, Phyllis, Irv, and Jimmy got there, their drama and front-page headlines, and what happened to them after the magic ended. Those headlines included Brent and The Greek's famous fight at Peartrees, Phyllis first marrying the man who produced The Godfather, then dropping him after two months for the next governor of Kentucky, and the shocking firing of Musburger on April Fool's Day, 1990.

America had never seen a show like this before. The NFL Today became so popular that it not only dominated the ratings, but also won its timeslot eighteen straight years, from 1975 to 1993, until CBS lost its NFL package to Fox. And today, looking back, these four personalities, like any family, had their own battles, and became even more famous for them.

The Pala Empire emerged in the eastern regions of the Indian subcontinent during the eighth century, marking the beginning of a powerful dynasty that would shape the cultural and political landscape of Bengal and Bihar for nearly four centuries. The empire was established in a period of political fragmentation and instability following the decline of the earlier Gupta Empire and the subsequent rule of smaller, competing kingdoms. This power vacuum set the stage for the rise of a strong and centralized authority under the leadership of Gopala, the first ruler of the Pala dynasty.
Gopala's ascent to power is believed to have been unique for the time, as he was reportedly chosen by local chieftains and influential figures through a process of election, rather than simply inheriting his position through lineage. This suggests that his leadership was recognized as a unifying force in a region that had suffered from prolonged disorder and internal conflicts. Once in power, Gopala took significant steps to stabilize his realm, laying the foundation for what would become one of the most enduring dynasties in Indian history. He consolidated his rule over Bengal and expanded his influence into neighboring territories, establishing control over strategic trade routes and fertile agricultural lands that contributed to the empire’s prosperity.
Gopala’s son, Dharmapala, proved to be an even more ambitious ruler. Under his leadership, the Pala Empire reached its zenith, with its influence stretching far beyond Bengal into northern and central India. Dharmapala was not only a military leader but also a great patron of Buddhism, playing a crucial role in the expansion of Buddhist institutions, including the famed Nalanda University. His military campaigns brought him into direct conflict with two of the other major powers of the time, the Gurjara-Pratiharas and the Rashtrakutas.

How did the most reluctant member of the Fab Four put his mark on all of their music? This book helps listeners hear how George Harrison shaped the sound of The Beatles and how he carried that sound forward into his solo career

Within You Without You is a highly personal exploration of George Harrison's essential contributions to the Beatles and his solo work, as well as his significant role as a Western proponent of Indian music and beliefs. Through close examination of his guitar playing in the Fab Four and his songwriting both in and out of the Beatles, author Seth Rogovoy demystifies the enigma of this most reluctant of rock stars.

Drawing upon the insights of the author—a rock critic and historian of over forty years standing—as well as those of expert observers, including Beatles filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg and English rock singer-songwriters Robyn Hitchcock and John Wesley Harding, among others, this book extensively examines George Harrison's contributions to the musical world. Within You Without You will forever change the way listeners hear the music of the Beatles and view Harrison's role in the group, as well as enhancing appreciation of Harrison as a cultural figure above and beyond his work as a musician.
