Sinopsis

🎖️ What is courage—and what does it cost?

In The Red Badge of Courage, Stephen Crane presents a gripping psychological portrait of a young soldier, Henry Fleming, as he navigates the chaos, fear, and moral conflict of the American Civil War. Torn between glory and survival, Henry's journey is one of self-doubt, growth, and reckoning ⚔️🇺🇸.

Hailed as one of the first realistic war novels in American literature, Crane's masterpiece strips away romanticized notions of combat and reveals the raw truth of human emotion under fire. Its poetic prose and emotional depth continue to resonate with readers more than a century later.

This fully annotated edition includes historical context, footnotes, and illustrations—ideal for students, educators, veterans, and lovers of classic American fiction 📚.

"One of the greatest war novels ever written." — The New York Times

They were newly oppressed in the South by disenfranchisement and the Jim Crow discriminatory laws enacted in the post-Reconstruction Southern states in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
OBJECT LESSONS: Not long ago an old coloured man living in this State said to me: "I's done quit libin' in de ashes. I's got my second freedom." That remark meant, in this case, that that old man by economy, hard work and proper guidance, after twenty years of struggle, had freed himself from debt, had paid for fifty acres of land, had built a comfortable house, and was a tax-payer.
