Sinopsis

"Fart Science" explores the often-humorous yet fundamentally important phenomenon of flatulence, demystifying the science behind gas and its role in digestion and overall health fitness. This book reveals that flatulence isn't just a source of jokes, but rather a valuable indicator of digestive health, influenced by dietary habits and gut microbiota. Interestingly, the composition and odor of gas can be significantly affected by specific bacteria in the gut and the consumption of certain foods. The book takes an accessible approach, avoiding overly technical jargon to engage a broad audience interested in human biology and health.

Beginning with the basic biology of digestion and gas production, it progresses to explore factors influencing odor and potential health implications, such as identifying food sensitivities. By understanding these biological processes, readers can gain insights into their digestive systems and make informed choices about their diets. The book's value lies in its ability to transform a taboo subject into an opportunity for learning and self-improvement, providing practical tips for managing gas and improving digestive health.

In Silence: The Psychology and the Craft for Emotional Wellbeing, the author―a psychotherapist, university professor, educator, and researcher―takes the listener into a thought-provoking and heartfelt journey. She offers original perspectives and vulnerable stories from her clients, students, and personal life. Drawing on, among others, ethnographic and autoethnographic accounts, Lehmann serves the listener with psychological insights, offering a timely, critical, and thorough viewpoint to contrast with an overload of misinformation about what silence is and how people should feel when quiet. The listener will be challenged to aspire to balance when communicating or connecting with themselves, with others, with nature, or with art, or, for some, as part of a spiritual path. Whether in nature, at work meetings, on the road, in a classroom, in the therapy room, or at the dinner table, silences appear as coordinates, and this book is the missing map for surviving and thriving when navigating toward well-being.

You might probably have heard before about the vagus nerve, either in high school Biology, or now that the movement of awakening has become more and more popular. However, you possibly have questions regarding what it is, exactly, and what its functions are.
What does the Vagus Nerve do?
The vagus nerve fulfills various different functions in the body:Motor: it provides innervations to most of the muscles that are found in the pharynx, larynx, and soft palate, to control their motor functions.Parasympathetic: as we mentioned, it provides innervations to muscles of the trachea, bronchi, and gastro-intestinal tract, and is in charge of regulating the rhythm of the heart and breath, reason why it has historically also been known as the pneumogastric nerve.Sensory: it provides innervation to the skin of the external acoustic meatus as well as the laryngopharynx and larynx’s internal surfaces. Still linked with its pneumogastric control, it additionally provides visceral sensation to the heart and viscera of the abdomen.Special sensory: thanks to the way it provides innervation, it also offers the sensation of taste to the root of the tongue and the epiglottis. This, however, is not the full sensation of taste that we experiment, which is actually provided to the posterior 1/3 of the tongue by the glossopharyngeal nerve.

Much has been written about the Space Race, which is still taught across America today, but the story of human space exploration is mostly one of cooperation. Even in the summer of 1969, the Soviets had given the United States the flight plan for its Luna 15 mission, allowing Apollo 11 to avoid it.
That was the first of many examples of cooperation in space between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and ultimately, their research and cooperation helped lead to the construction of the International Space Station (ISS), a large space station assembled in Earth’s orbit that represents the most ambitious international space project in history.
Thanks to the various components that have been put together, the International Space Station is bigger and brighter than all other artificial satellites. With relatively low power magnification, people can see the solar panels radiating outward from the numerous international modules which make up the ISS. The reality of that platform, at the edge of the ocean of space, is pretty astounding when looked at from the perspective of history. Only 120 years ago, mankind did not know if it was possible to fly in a heavier-than-air vehicle. Constructed with over 30 different modules and pieces that were carried into orbit by dozens of different launches, the ISS is already over 150 feet long, 300 feet wide and 60 feet tall. Astronauts from 10 nations have spent time on the space station as long-term crew.
In addition, the International Space Station can truly be held as a sign that the Space Age is maturing quite nicely, at least on a social and personal level. A total of 34 women have visited the space station, eight tourists have paid for the privilege of taking the trip to the station, and there have been many who have made multiple trips to the ISS.
