Sinopsis

One officer, his breath shallow, leaned in closer to inspect a large butcher’s knife. It had been used, not just for cutting, but for carving. There was no mistaking it.

The hilt was covered in dark red splotches that had dried into thick clumps. The officer’s stomach churned as he turned away, only to be met with something that made his skin crawl even more.

On the counter, surrounded by the knives, was a plate. A strange, unholy plate.

It was full of meat. Gristly, raw meat. It looked as though it had been hastily thrown together—chunks of flesh, slices of skin, and strips of muscle, some unrecognizable. The smell intensified as they moved closer. There was no mistaking it now. This wasn’t some butcher’s leftovers. It was human. And it was fresh.

One officer, his hand trembling, lifted the lid. The smell hit them immediately—a nauseating, putrid stench that made their stomachs turn. It wasn’t just blood, wasn’t just flesh. It was something else. It was the unmistakable scent of something cooked, of meat being prepared for consumption.

They leaned in closer, their eyes widening as they saw it—the contents of the pot.
Inside, boiled human organs were carefully arranged, their shapes unmistakable. The liver, the kidneys. They were all there, simmering in what appeared to be some sort of broth. The meat had been tenderized, and softened as if it had been prepared for someone to feast upon.On the counter, surrounded by the knives, was a plate. A strange, unholy plate.

This book consists of three biographies:
Jesse James - Jesse Woodson James is an iconic figure in American history, often romanticized as a daring bank and train robber, a guerrilla fighter, and the notorious leader of the James–Younger Gang. Born on September 5, 1847, in Clay County, Missouri, Jesse grew up in a region known as "Little Dixie," where the culture and values were deeply rooted in Southern traditions. This upbringing played a significant role in shaping his identity and allegiances throughout his life.
Lucky Luciano - Charles "Lucky" Luciano, originally born Salvatore Lucania, was a notorious Italian-American gangster who played a pivotal role in shaping the structure of organized crime in the United States. His rise to infamy began with his involvement in the Five Points gang, a prominent criminal group in New York City in the early 20th century. As Luciano climbed the criminal hierarchy, he became instrumental in forming the National Crime Syndicate, a coalition of mafia organizations across the U.S.
The Yakuza - The Yakuza were members of large-scale organized criminal syndicates based in Japan, known for their deeply entrenched criminal activities and distinctive cultural identity. Officially referred to as "violent organizations" at the request of Japanese authorities, the Yakuza bear similarities to gangsters or mafia members in the West.
The Zodiac Killer - The Zodiac Killer remains one of the most infamous and elusive criminals in American history, a figure who cast a shadow of fear over Northern California in the late 1960s. This unidentified serial killer left a trail of violence and mystery, baffling law enforcement and becoming a notorious fixture in popular culture. To this day, the Zodiac's true identity remains unknown, fueling endless speculation, theories, and attempts by amateur sleuths to solve the mystery.

George Robert Gissing was born on November 22nd, 1857 in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
He was educated at Back Lane School in Wakefield. Gissing loved school. He was enthusiastic with a thirst for learning and always diligent. By the age of ten he was reading Dickens, a lifelong hero.
In 1872 Gissing won a scholarship to Owens College. Whilst there Gissing worked hard but remained solitary. Unfortunately, he had run short of funds and stole from his fellow students. He was arrested, prosecuted, found guilty, expelled and sentenced to a month's hard labour in 1876.
On release he decided to start over. In September 1876 he travelled to the United States. Here he wrote short stories for the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers. On his return home he was ready for novels.
Gissing self-published his first novel but it failed to sell. His second was acquired but never published. His writing career was static. Something had to change. And it did.
By 1884 The Unclassed was published. Now everything he wrote was published. Both Isabel Clarendon and Demos appeared in 1886. He mined the lives of the working class as diligently as any capitalist.
In 1889 Gissing used the proceeds from the sale of The Nether World to go to Italy. This trip formed the basis for his 1890 work The Emancipated.
Gissing's works began to command higher payments. New Grub Street (1891) brought a fee of £250.
Short stories followed and in 1895, three novellas were published; Eve's Ransom, The Paying Guest and Sleeping Fires. Gissing was careful to keep up with the changing attitudes of his audience.
Unfortunately, he was also diagnosed as suffering from emphysema. The last years of his life were spent as a semi-invalid in France but he continued to write. 1899; The Crown of Life. Our Friend the Charlatan appeared in 1901, followed two years later by The Private Papers of Henry Ryecroft.
George Robert Gissing died aged 46 on December 28th, 1903 after catching a chill on a winter walk.

Knud Pedersen was born in Lom in the Gudbrandsdal valley of Norway on the 4th of August, 1859 in what was then the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway. He was the fourth son of seven children born to poor parents who, when he was three, were invited to an uncle’s farm to work his land.
When he was nine he moved away from his family to help another uncle who ran a post office. Whilst with him he was beaten and starved which manifested in a series of chronic nervous difficulties. The treatment endured for six years until he managed to escape back to Lom.
For some time he now took any job that was available to him, including store clerk, peddler, shoemaker's apprentice, sheriff's assistant, elementary-school teacher and ropemaker's apprentice. At about the same time, with the wealth of these gained experiences, he began to explore his literary talents.
In 1877 he published his first book ‘The Enigmatic Man: A Love Story from Northern Norway’, others soon followed but real success only came in 1890 with ‘Hunger’, an influential work for later novelists with its internal monologue and bizarre logic. His work is often associated with Pantheism; where nature and mankind are unified in a strong and often mystical bond.
His work was so influential that in 1920 he was awarded the Novel Prize for Literature.
Shortly after this point his works became fewer and his interests darker. During World War II he became a fervent admirer of the Nazi’s, even meeting Hitler, even though German armies had overrun Norway. With the war’s end he was detained on charges of treason. His old age was apparently the primary reason given for Hamsun receiving only a fine. Other reasons also sought to excuse his abhorrent behaviour but it was clear that whilst he was loved for his literature he was detested for his politics and morals.
His literary canon includes more than 20 novels, a poetry collection, short stories, plays, a travelogue, other works of non-fiction and essays.
Knut Hamsun died on the 19th February 1952 in Grimstad. He was 92.
