Sinopse

Diversity is God’s idea—and unity is how we honor God.Our heavenly Father calls us to unite, but Christians remain some of the most divided people on the planet. It seems we mistake God’s call for unity as a command for uniformity: We split along political and denominational lines and prefer our churches, neighborhoods, and other spaces to be filled with those most “like” ourselves. Our segregated habits may satisfy our need for comfort, but division breaks God’s heart. We are called to embrace the miracle of unity, when what was once separated due to difference comes together—when people from every group, nation, and tongue praise the name of Jesus. In Mending Sunday, Skot Welch offers a pathway for putting on the mind of Christ when it comes to diversity and division. God’s unity doesn’t mean giving up our unique identities and the gifts of ethnicity, family, language, or tradition. Rather, when we put Jesus at the center of our lives and communities, we experience a grace and power we’ve never before known. In a culture bent on division, a church that embraces differences becomes the biggest witness for Christ the world has ever seen.

Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, also known as Srila Prabhupāda, was a prominent spiritual leader and revivalist of the Gaudīya Vaisnava tradition in early 20th-century India. He was born Bimala Prasad Datt on 6 February 1874 in the town of Jagannath Puri, in the present-day state of Odisha, India. As a child, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati showed great intellectual potential, and he received a thorough education in Sanskrit, philosophy, and theology from his father, a renowned scholar, and Vaishnava monk. After completing his studies, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati became a professor of Sanskrit and philosophy at Calcutta University.

In 1918, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati founded the Gaudiya Math, a religious institution aimed at reviving and promoting the teachings of the Gaudīya Vaisnava tradition. He also initiated a series of reforms within the tradition, emphasizing the importance of scriptural study, the necessity of devotional service to Krishna, and the rejection of sectarianism and caste-based discrimination. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati was a prolific writer and scholar who authored numerous books and articles on Vaisnava philosophy and theology. He also trained many disciples, including A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who later founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and became a major figure in the spread of the Hare Krishna movement in the West. Sarasvati passed away on 1 January 1937, but his legacy continues to inspire and guide followers of the Gaudīya Vaisnava tradition. He is remembered for his tireless efforts to revive and promote the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the founder of the Gaudīya Vaisnava tradition, and for his commitment to spreading the message of devotional service and love of God.

Hidden behind the veils of ancient Egypt and whispered through the halls of esoteric schools, The Kybalion is a concise yet profound guide to the timeless principles said to govern all existence. First published anonymously in 1908, this small volume has shaped generations of mystics, philosophers, and seekers—yet its origin remains shrouded in mystery.
Presented through the cryptic voice of “The Three Initiates,” The Kybalion unveils seven Hermetic Principles—Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause and Effect, and Gender. These principles form a blueprint of how reality functions at every level, from the cosmic to the personal. They offer a way to understand the forces that shape thought, influence emotion, and guide the unseen currents of destiny.
Rather than dogma or doctrine, this work offers a practical metaphysical framework—one that invites the reader to explore the nature of mind, master inner states, and align with the universal patterns that weave through all life. Its teachings resonate across spiritual traditions, from alchemy and Kabbalah to modern psychology and self-transformation.
Whether you’re drawn to Hermetic philosophy, seeking deeper self-knowledge, or exploring the roots of Western esotericism, The Kybalion stands as a rare key:
a map for decoding the universe—and yourself.

A century ago, life was far more fragile. Houses were smaller and colder, transport was slow, food security was uncertain and medical care was limited. Rights and opportunities were often restricted to a privileged few.
Today, much of what we take for granted - electricity, clean water, reliable medicine, education, democracy and human rights - has been built on a hundred years of extraordinary change.
Then and Now: A Century of Global Progress explores this remarkable transformation, comparing everyday life in 1925 with 2025 across the globe. From housing and health to communication, transport, culture and the environment, it reveals how societies have shifted and how ordinary people’s lives have improved.
Through stories and examples from every continent, this book offers more than a history of progress - it is a reminder of how far we’ve come, how resilience and creativity have shaped the modern world and how gratitude and perspective can change the way we see our present and our future.
For readers of history, sociology and anyone who wants to appreciate the gift of progress, this is an inspiring journey through the last century of human achievement.

"Brown has taken an incredibly complex subject and made it accessible and readable, all while retaining the gravity of history and the sheer intensity of these battlefields. Airpower became a fundamental warfighting tool in the Global War on Terror, and its success depended on the community of JTACs whose experiences populate this important work. They are the unsung heroes of the post-9/11 wars America needs to meet." —David L. Goldfein, General (Ret.), USAF, 21st Chief of Staff

With a new century and a new enemy came a new kind of war: low intensity and civilian-dominated, blending austere rural and dense urban environments alike. Into this new kind of war, the American military launched two invasions against terrorist networks and military rivals, relying on airpower—close air support (CAS)—at a scale never before seen.

The Global War on Terror was the "CAS war." Forward Air Controllers were on the front lines, directing airstrikes against enemies in their safe havens, safeguarding friendly forces and civilians alike to their utmost, and achieving unprecedented success with limited resources. This volume captures the heroic accounts of the first Tactical Air Control Party (TACPs) in Afghanistan and Iraq, and how Close Air Support fundamentally reshaped the American war machine in the first five years of the War on Terror.
