Sinopse

Some time ago at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos I was with a group of people and we talked about the most memorable moments of our lives. One of us, the first to speak, talked about the day he secured his first job. Another spoke of the day he passed his University degree examination. For another group member, it was the day he retired from the Nigerian Army. The following person said that his most memorable day was the day he heard that his wife was off the danger list after a severe surgical operation. Then, the elderly man who had been listening intently to our discussion cut in and said, 'As far as I am concerned, the most memorable day of my life was when my autobiography, which showcased the story of my life from birth to date was publicly presented and launched'.

He added that his autobiography contained his footprints on the sand of history which he wants to pass on to the present and future generations as a source of inspiration. According to him, his autobiography also contained the memorable relationships he had with his children. He was pleased that his autobiography had gone to various parts of the world for people who did not even know him to read about him. Listening to him speak, I shook my head and said, 'The words of elders are words of wisdom'.

I have always told my clients that one cannot underestimate the place of biography or autobiography in a man's life. It is the crown of life. It encapsulates all you have achieved and stand for in public and private life. It is the most faithful witness to the life and times of a hero, or person of calibre after he or she has finished their race in this world. Their autobiographies or biographies stand as sources of inspiration to the present and future generations.

Knowing all this, I approached my brother Knight of the Pope, Chief Lambert Olu Akinyede, asking him the permission to embark on this projet so that his footprints and accomplishments will remain on the sand of history and in the indelible pages of this biography. At the time, his response was positive and prompt. He gave us the tools and this helped us with the complete package of this monumental publication.

The biography of Chief Lambert Olu Akinyede is a success story. It is the story of a man who, with the support of his parents and wellwishers, left the shores of Nigeria in those colonial days for an unfamiliar terrain in England to pursue legal education which was a rare privilege. As a result of that decision, he became the first to qualify as a lawyer in Ado Ekiti, his home town.

This book is intended to tell the story, without exaggeration, of his humble life of dedication and sacrifice to his family, society at large, and his Creator.

I got naked so I could produce an album.
Rock n Pole is the raw, hilarious, and unfiltered memoir of Aimee Bushong—an aspiring rock star who stripped to fund her music career and refused to give up on her dream, no matter how sideways it got.
By day, she fronted a gritty indie band. By night, she danced under blacklights and hustled lap dances in Denver’s sleaziest clubs—juggling guitar strings and g-strings, heartbreak and hangovers, hope and humiliation.
Told with biting wit and brutal honesty, this isn’t a story about victimhood. It’s a story about survival, ambition, absurdity—and doing whatever it takes to make art in a world that doesn’t give a f—k.
If you've ever chased a dream, defied expectations, or lived a double life just to keep the lights on—this audiobook is for you.

It might seem odd—a punk band introducing poetry into someone's life. But what if this lyrical influence was the reason you became a writer in the first place?

Days and Days weaves together two stories. One is a tale of friendship and self-discovery that occurs during a backpacking adventure through England, Scotland, and Ireland. The other celebrates the highly influential yet underestimated United Kingdom band Leatherface, a group that The Guardian called "the greatest British punk band of the modern era." Without so much as a single hostel booked, Chris MacDonald and his friend Jason cross the Atlantic. They sleep in train stations, endure a haunting on top of a volcano in Edinburgh, are driven out of Belfast by the IRA, and witness the mother of all storms. They also find themselves in the rehearsal space of their teenage punk idols, a building steeped in cultural significance for the Sunderland music scene.

Days and Days is about the silver thread that connects us even after drifting apart. It's a story about forgiveness and reflection, how beauty can be found within callous cladding. Leatherface band members, colleagues, and friends generously share personal insights that guide the listener into the melancholy, darkness, and humor that surround Sunderland's best-kept secret.

Edgar Award Winner: True stories of miscarriages of justice, legal battles, and landmark reversals, by the creator of Perry Mason.    In 1945, Erle Stanley Gardner, noted attorney and author of the popular Perry Mason mysteries, was contacted by an overwhelmed California public defender who believed his doomed client was innocent. William Marvin Lindley had been convicted of the rape and murder of a young girl along the banks of the Yuba River, and was awaiting execution at San Quentin. After reviewing the case, Gardner agreed to help—it seemed the fate of the “Red-Headed Killer” hinged on the testimony of a colorblind witness.   Gardner’s intervention sparked the Court of Last Resort. The Innocence Project of its day, this ambitious and ultimately successful undertaking was devoted to investigating, reviewing, and reversing wrongful convictions owing to poor legal representation, prosecutorial abuses, biased police activity, bench corruption, unreliable witnesses, and careless forensic-evidence testimony. The crimes: rape, murder, kidnapping, and manslaughter. The prisoners: underprivileged and vulnerable men wrongly convicted and condemned to life sentences or death row with only one hope—the devotion of Erle Stanley Gardner and the Court of Last Resort.   Featuring Gardner’s most damning cases of injustice from across the country, The Court of Last Resort won the Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime. Originating as a monthly column in Argosy magazine, it was produced as a dramatized court TV show for NBC.

TWENTY YEARS BEFORE SHOCKING THE WORLD IN LOS ANGELES IN 1947 AS “THE BLACK DAHLIA AVENGER” DID GEORGE HODEL TERRORIZE CALIFORNIA BY COMMITTING SOME OF ITS MOST INFAMOUS CRIMES AND SERIAL MURDERS?
From the Introduction:In writing George Hill Hodel: “The Early Years,” my original intent was to present all my father’s suspected crimes from the 1920s and 1930s in one edition. I have found this is simply not possible as it would require a book that would dwarf Dostoevsky’s nearly seven-hundred-page opus, Crime and Punishment. Therefore, I will present “The Early Years” in two-parts, two editions. This edition is Part I and presents my investigations of his suspected crimes in the 1920s. Note that I said, “suspected crimes.” I want to be crystal clear on this point. My two-part, “Early Years” investigations are just that—a search out of for the truth. …In the presentation of these crimes from the long ago (the first one goes back one-hundred years), I make no claim to a “solution.” I am not saying that my father, George Hill Hodel, committed any of these crimes, beyond a “Reasonable Doubt”—which would be the legal requirement to find him guilty.Several of these crimes, without the introduction of hard physical evidence, or DNA, are not solvable. Others have been claimed “solved” by law enforcement and are considered “Case Closed.”…To be clear. These crimes from the Twenties and Thirties did not present themselves to me post-Black Dahlia Avenger published in 2003. I was aware of them and his possible involvement in them as early as the year 2000, a full three years before I presented my father to the world as the killer of Elizabeth “Black Dahlia” Short and the other LA Lone Woman Murders.
