  The Prestige is a 2006 psychological thriller directed by Christopher Nolan. Set in 19th-century London, it follows two rival magicians, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, who are obsessed with outdoing each other through their illusions. Their rivalry intensifies as they both create increasingly dangerous and elaborate tricks. The film explores themes of obsession, sacrifice, deception, and the blurred line between reality and illusion. He believed in a philosophy of what he called ‘art-as-art’ and used his writing and satirical cartoons to advocate for abstract art.
