  An arcane ritual reveals a code hidden within Thelema’s most holy book. Over a period of several years, the former head of Kenneth Grant’s Typhonian Order in the United States, conducted a bizarre sexual ritual with elements of Thelema, Lovecraft, and the Egyptian mummification ceremony to unlock a mathematical code buried in plain sight in Aleister Crowley’s Book of the Law. Jeffrey Evans, a follower of Aleister Crowley’s Thelema since his teenage years, had an encounter on a bridge in Washington, DC, with a being he identified as his holy guardian angel. This being—Karla—provided him with the inspiration to begin a series of rituals incorporating Egyptian and Lovecraftian elements in an effort to traverse the Tunnels of Set: pathways on the “dark side” of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The ritual, conducted with his wife, Ruth Keenan, employed cross-dressing and bondage as well as Cthulhian imagery and chanting, and resulted in a series of revelations concerning the mathematical code hidden within the verses of Crowley’s Book of the Law: a circumstance that Crowley always suspected but was never able to prove, not even with the help of accomplished mathematicians. Evans tried in vain to demonstrate this code to other members of the Typhonian Order, to no avail, but a chance meeting online with Peter Levenda resulted in Levenda’s taking a closer look at the data and what he discovered astounded him. He agreed to help bring this discovery to the attention of the general public. There has been very little new work published in the field of Thelema in the last 10 years or so, at least since the death of Kenneth Grant. Most publishing concerning Crowley has been biographical or reissues of Crowley’s own material. This work is a departure from all of that. It is new material, completely unexpected within the Crowley/Thelema/OTO environment, for it offers a new approach to the mathematical nature of Thelema that so far has been based on Qabalah. This work brings attention to the existence of a sacred geometry within the verses of the Book of the Law: a completely unexpected discovery but nonetheless mathematically verifiable. It bridges the gap between Thelema, Freemasonry, and Templarism, as well as Gnosticism, demonstrating a continuum of esoteric thought spanning millennia.

  In 1451, Prince Henry the Navigator helped fund and develop a new type of ship, the caravel, that featured triangular lateen sails and would be able to travel in the open ocean and sail against the wind. In 1488, Bartholomew Diaz rounded the southern tip of Africa, named the Cape of Good Hope by King John of Portugal, and entered the Indian Ocean from the Atlantic. 
  One explorer, Christopher Columbus, sought funding from the Portuguese to search for a passage to Asia by sailing westwards, but he was rejected. At this time in the late 15th century, Portugal’s domination of the western African sea routes prompted the neighboring Crown of Castile and the Catholic monarchs in modern Spain to search for an alternative route to south and east Asia (termed Indies), so they provided Columbus with the funding he required. By the time Christopher Columbus started setting back east from the New World after landing there in October 1492, he had explored San Salvador in the Bahamas (which he thought was Japan), Cuba (which he thought was China), and Hispaniola, the source of gold. As the common story goes, Columbus, en route back to Spain from his first journey, called in at Lisbon as a courtesy to brief the Portuguese King John II of his discovery of the New World. King John subsequently protested that according to the 1479 Treaty of Alcáçovas, which divided the Atlantic Ocean between Spanish and Portuguese spheres of influence, the newly discovered lands rightly belonged to Portugal. To make clear the point, a Portuguese fleet was authorized and dispatched west from the Tagus to lay claim to the “Indies,” which prompted a flurry of diplomatic activity in the court of Ferdinand and Isabella.

The vicious and volatile wrath of the cruel monarch knew no bounds, and his victims, no numbers. Some say these cries belong to the young maidens who were burnt at the stake for no other reason than rejecting Pedro's romantic advances. Others say they come from the spirit of Eleanor of Guzman, the mistress of Pedro's father, Alfonso XI of Castile, and one of Pedro's first kills. Or perhaps they come from all of Pedro's victims, cursed by their violent deaths to roam the Alcázar in perpetuity. 
  	The Calle Cardenal Herrero in Córdoba is an iconic cobbled street impossible to overlook, for it is home to the Andalusian city's spectacular Mosque-Cathedral. Also known as “La Mezquita,” this one-of-a-kind Moorish and Christian place of worship reels in about 1.5 million visitors each year, most of whom find themselves spellbound by its hypnotic architectural features and riveting history.
