    'Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, about last Friday, Winnie-the-Pooh lived in a forest all by himself…'

    In the 1920s, A. A. Milne published a series of stories – first told to his son Christopher Robin – about a bear called Winnie-the-Pooh. Since then, the lovable bear has occupied a special place in the hearts of readers and listeners all over the world. The characters Milne created – Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo and Tigger – have become a part of countless childhoods, and are equally loved by adults. Adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood include rescuing Pooh from a tight situation, discovering the North Pole and saving Piglet from the Great Flood in an upturned umbrella.

    A wedding turning into a battle, a feast converted to a slaughter, a Viking band on the run.Julia stood barefoot in the mud in front of the doors of the great hall in Dubh Linn. Through the thin veil that covered her face, she could see Princess Ailbi shivering in the cold spring air. It would soon be warm enough.The doors opened slowly inwards by somebody not visible from the outside. Torches fluttered in the gloom inside, and between light and shadows there were figures. Unmoving, waiting. Like a gathering of cats waiting for a sparrow. Ailbi took a hesitant step, then another. She straightened her back and strode into the main hall. As terrified and proud as only a princess can be.Julia followed her. To the left, her Irish companion pulled a foot up from the mud with a squelch. Soon, there were similar noises behind her as ten bridesmaids took their first steps towards the door to Torgils’s great hall.Inside, Julia felt the warmth from the fireplace and the torches. And the cold from the men waiting for them. The enemy. Fear and anticipation sent a shiver through her body. The sudden movement drew many eyes to her. From behind her veil, Julia studied their faces. Closest to her, farthest from the throne, stood half a dozen tall men with broad shoulders, mighty fists, and golden rings and bracelets. They were veteran warriors, probably of Torgils’s hird.The bridesmaids were surrounded. They were bait. The trap was set.'Free' is the third book in the trilogy 'Viking Ventures'. Follow Ulv, Marcus, Julia and the whole band of Viking misfits as they change the course of history. In the epic story of 'Viking Ventures', you will meet real historical figures like Ragnar Lothbrok and Charles the Bald. You will bear witness to the occupation of Dublin and the siege of Paris. You will visit Hedeby and Rouen, and take part in battles, sieges and duels.

    "I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree;
    A tree whose hungry mouth is presd against the sweet earth's flowing breast ...".
    Almost all of us, including myself of course, have heard and enjoyed those famous words which begin Kilmer's poem, Trees. There is even a National Forest in the United States named in honor of this poem. Here is a recording of this poem along with other poems in the volume in which it was first published in 1914. Joyce Kilmer was an American writer and poet mainly remembered for this short poem but he was a prolific poet whose works celebrated the common beauty of the natural world as well as his Roman Catholic religious faith, Kilmer was also a journalist, literary critic, lecturer, and editor. While most of his works are largely unknown, a select few of his poems remain popular and are published frequently in anthologies.
    At the time of his deployment to Europe during World War I (1914–1918), Kilmer was considered the leading American Roman Catholic poet and lecturer of his generation, whom critics often compared to British contemporaries G. K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc . He enlisted in the New York National Guard and was deployed to France with the 69th Infantry Regiment (the famous "Fighting 69th") in 1917. He was killed by a sniper's bullet at the Second Battle of the Marne in 1918 at the age of 31. He was married to Aline Murray, who later became a poet and author in her own right, with whom he had five children.

    This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
    In this fifth installment of The Clockmaker of Dreams series, Lina, Kevin, and their loyal dog Rex welcome New Year’s Eve the way they always do, waiting for the familiar knock, the golden feather, and the ladder from the moon. But when the feather arrives cold and blue, and the Dreamworld’s magic falls silent, the children discover that something is terribly wrong. Their gentle guide, the Clockmaker, is no longer the bright guardian they know, and dream clocks that once glowed with warmth now hang frozen in the sky. With no map, no lantern, and no promise of safety, Lina and her friends must climb the moon ladder and follow a fading compass into a world of sleeping dreams, where fear spreads like winter and hope feels small. Through mysterious encounters with other children and the quiet courage of friendship, Lina learns that some journeys are not about bravery at all, but about kindness, compassion, and the simple strength of standing together. The Clockmaker of New Year’s Eve Dreams: The Night Lina and the Gang Melted the Ice is a magical, heartfelt adventure that invites young listeners to believe in love over fear, and reminds parents that even the coldest nights can thaw when children share their light.
