  This is the original 1930 story of The Great Airport Mystery: The Hardy Boys Book 9. The book has undergone one major revision since its original publication in 1930, resulting in two different stories bearing the same title. 
  Frank and Joe Hardy drive to see the new Bayport Airport. Before even getting there the boys are almost run over by an airplane flown by the airmail pilot Giles Ducroy. As a result of the event, Ducroy loses his job, blames the boys, and then frames them for a mail robbery. Although the boys don’t have an alibi they are bailed out of jail by Mr. Applegate (from The Tower Treasure) and Mr. Jefferson (from The Mystery of Cabin Island). The Hardy boys overhear Ducroy and two other criminals planning a major robbery. The boys find out that Ducroy and company bought an airplane. In order to keep up with the gang they decide to stow in the back of the airplane. Ducroy and company make a daring and dangerous attempt to steal a major payroll from the airmail plane. The Hardy boys manage to capture the thieves with the help of the targeted pilot. He ends up using the crooks’ plane to deliver his cargo. The boys are vindicated when they bring in the real mail robbers, plus having averted a major robbery. 
  Much has changed in America since 1930. The modern listener may be delighted with the warmth and innocence of the characters, but uncomfortable with the racial, social, and sexist terms and stereotypes. As such, this book is a part of our heritage, a window into our real past.

  You Were Right, Joe by J. T. McIntosh - You had it taped all the way, pal-but how come you didn't say this would happen to me? 
  I can't be sure you're getting this, Joe, but you've been right about so many of the other things, I guess you're very likely right about that, too. 
  You remember you figured that I wouldn't just materialize naked in the middle of a city street. You said I'd be a genuine human being of the time, correctly dressed and with some kind of personal history. But you warned me - and I appreciate this, Joe; you didn't have to warn me, but you did it - you warned me that there was no telling I'd be like me. 
  I may as well admit now I wasn't happy about that. I never was much to look at and there wasn't any danger of my becoming the heavyweight champion of the world. But I'd got used to being the way I was, and I didn't altogether like the idea of seeing a stranger's face every time I looked in the mirror. 
  If I'd known what I was going to be like, I'd never have done it. I'm sorry, Joe, but even for you I couldn't have faced it. Now that I'm here, though, I'll just have to make the best of it. 
  You were right, Joe, all along the line. Nobody ran screaming when I got here and I haven't been arrested. I was fitted into a spot that was made for me, dressed in the right clothes, able to speak the right language. I've got a name. And just as you said, I'm different. Different? That's like saying Gina Lollobrigida isn't like Aunt Phoebe! 
  When I first got here, I looked around, of course. I saw people walking about and colored buildings with hardly any straight lines in them. It took no more than a glance to show me this was a pretty advanced civilization, many centuries ahead of our time. 
  Before I did any more looking around, I did the second obvious thing. I looked down at what I could see of me.

  When William McKinley was assassinated in 1901, young Theodore Roosevelt was thrust into the presidency, one that would earn him a place on Mount Rushmore, Roosevelt’s “Square Deal” domestic policies favored average citizens while busting trusts and monopolies. Wilson was a pioneer of the Progressive movement both before and during his presidency, becoming a populist champion a generation before Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal. He ran for reelection by touting his neutrality during World War I, only to lead his nation into the war and become the architect of a world body that would lead to greater inter-connection among nations. Today Wilson is best remembered for his Fourteen Points, one of the most forceful arguments for an idealistic foreign policy in American history. 
  Franklin Delano Roosevelt might be America’s greatest 20th century president, but there’s no question that he was the most unique. A well-connected relative of Theodore Roosevelt, FDR was groomed for greatness until he was struck down by what was widely believed to be polio at the time. Nevertheless, he persevered, rising through New York politics to reach the White House just as the country faced its greatest challenge since the Civil War. For over a decade, Roosevelt threw everything he had at the Great Depression, and then threw everything the country had at the Axis powers during World War II. Ultimately, he succumbed to illness in the middle of his fourth term, just before the Allies won the war.
