Beschreibung

Big Daddy Flower owned a good chunk of land in a small place in Texas. Since his last name was Flower, his four daughters were named for a flower. He didn’t want to name his son after a flower, so he called his son, Thorn. His four daughters were not delicate little flowers he thought they would be. They were all older now and helped run the ranch. They also had many talents and could ride, rope, shoot, and beat up a bad man, if needed. Life was going well until someone decided they would kidnap one of Big Daddy Flower’s daughters. He took his family with him to find her, making them look more like a gang of outlaws that resembled an old timey villain, than a normal family. After searching for hours, she still wasn’t found, so they rested before going back out the next morning. A ransom note arrived saying they had a bomb, and they needed to give in to his command, or else. That’s when it became complicated. Could they really find her before the bomb exploded?

Stewart Morrison is an "all-wool" man—genuine, unshrinking, and entirely uncompromising. As the young manager of a thriving woolen mill, he has little interest in the dirty game of politics. But when corrupt politicians and greedy monopolists scheme to steal the state’s valuable water power, Morrison finds himself thrust into the center of a high-stakes political war. Set over the course of a single, breathless twenty-four-hour period, All-Wool Morrison is a gripping and fast-paced thriller that pits honest industry against political machine bosses. With the future of the state hanging in the balance, Morrison must use every ounce of his grit, wit, and unwavering principles to outmaneuver his ruthless adversaries and win the heart of the woman he loves. Perfect for fans of classic political thrillers and underdog stories, this captivating audiobook proves that sometimes, one principled person is all it takes to bring down a corrupt empire.

The world could not escape this misfortune that came out of the blue, so the System is still providing its inhabitants with entertainment. In addition to developing and constantly introducing new possibilities for the inhabitants of the planet, the System is also trying to complicate their lives. Who knows why that is? Maybe that's how some higher power is trying to make the survivors move forward, to become stronger and smarter. And to mobilize all their strength and forget about their boring and meaningless old lives.

As for Kasp . . . Kasp just wants peace and quiet. Maybe that's why the System chose him as the leader of a settlement and gave him a whole host of responsibilities.

But he is also a Ghost, so . . . No, he's not going to do that. He's going to vanish into thin air and fly away, leaving all that routine stuff for someone else to do. And do actually interesting things instead.

Short stories have always been a sort of instant access into an author’s brain, their soul and heart. A few pages can lift our lives into locations, people and experiences with a sweep of landscape, narration, feelings and emotions that is difficult to achieve elsewhere.

In this series we try to offer up tried and trusted ‘Top Tens’ across many different themes and authors. But any anthology will immediately throw up the questions – Why that story? Why that author?

The theme itself will form the boundaries for our stories which range from well-known classics, newly told, to stories that modern times have overlooked but perfectly exemplify the theme. Throughout the volume our authors whether of instant recognition or new to you are all leviathans of literature.

Some you may disagree with but they will get you thinking; about our choices and about those you would have made. If this volume takes you on a path to discover more of these miniature masterpieces then we have all gained something.

The Century moves on decade by decade. War once again scars Europe, in America wagons roll west. Social unrest continues even as conditions improve markedly for the few and only a little for the many. The list of problems and of challenges described by our authors is long and their stories once again full of valuable and telling insights.

The strongest bodybuilder in Emerson isn’t a match for my focus.
Emerson Dance is one of the most prestigious dance companies in the country. And I got kicked off the team right before nationals because my curves don’t “fit.” Not their idea of a perfect dancer's body and definitely not their costume.
I’m going to enter the competition on my own and show them that every body is a dancer’s body. It will mean practicing in the gym with the bodybuilders, but I can shove my nerves - and my attraction to Carter McCormac – aside long enough to win.
My reputation, and my future, depend on it.
If you love girls who buck the rules and guys strong enough to lift them up, you’ll love Curvy Girls Can’t Dance, a standalone romance in The Curvy Girl Club! Grab your copy and fall in love today!
