Sinopse

In a seemingly ordinary small town, John, an introverted and dreamy man, discovers a strange antique object in an antique store. When he grabs it, he finds himself immersed in a strange and disturbing world, where the border between reality and illusion blurs.
As John explores this mysterious universe, he realizes that he is not the only one to have been attracted by this object. Robert, a brilliant but skeptical scientist, is also intrigued by the object's inexplicable powers and embarks on a quest to understand its nature.
Meanwhile, Sewa, an artist passionate about exploring the limits of reality through her creations, crosses paths with John and Robert. Together they discover that the ancient object is actually a key to parallel dimensions, where each individual can experience their own illusions and altered perceptions of reality.
Michael, an enigmatic spirit guide, then appears to help them navigate the strange worlds and unravel the mysteries around them. They face challenges, dangers, and shocking revelations that challenge their deepest beliefs.
Along their journey, they meet other intriguing characters such as William, a philosopher who questions the very nature of reality, David, a talented illusionist who manipulates the perceptions of others, Richard, a renowned scientist obsessed with power to control reality, and Joseph, a mysterious man who seems to have been linked to the ancient object for generations.
As the boundaries of reality crumble, the characters must face hard choices and moral dilemmas, all while seeking to understand the true nature of the ancient object and preserve their own sanity.
This story mixing reality and illusion explores themes of perception, truth and questioning reality as we know it. The characters will have to face their own limitations and grapple with inconvenient truths while searching for a way back to their own reality.

In the summer of 1889, a young Londoner and consultant hydraulic engineer, Victor Hatherley, recounts the strange events that occurred to him the night before, initially to Dr. Watson and later to Sherlock Holmes.
Hatherley was visited by a man who identified himself as Colonel Lysander Stark and offered a confidential 50 guinea (£52.50, equivalent to £6,173 in 2021[1]) commission to examine a hydraulic press at a country house in Eyford, Berkshire that Stark claimed was used to compress fuller's earth into bricks. Despite his misgivings and theorising that Stark was lying about the machine's true purpose, Hatherley felt compelled to accept the offer, as his business was newly established and he had little work.
Upon arriving at an appointed train station, Hatherley was picked up by a carriage with frosted glass windows and traveled what he believed was a considerable distance to the house. Distracted by his desire to be paid, Hatherley ignored a woman's warnings to escape before he examined the press and made recommendations on how to fix it. Upon further investigation however, he discovered the floor was covered in a "crust of metallic deposit." Realising his theory was right, he confronted Stark, who then tried to kill him with the press. After the woman helped Hatherley escape, a murderous Stark pursued him with a cleaver, forcing Hatherley to jump from a second-storey window, losing his thumb to Stark in the process. Surviving the fall and landing within some rose bushes, Hatherley passed out and later awoke by a hedge near the train station.

NEW FROM USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR GINA LAMANNA

Hello, world. My name is Lucy Little, and I'm an author.

Actually, my mom thinks I'm a homeless bum with no health insurance, and my dad truly believes I'm as famous as Brad Pitt. He frequently asks me to sign napkins that he passes out like currency at the local police station where he likes to steal doughnuts. He's a former cop. That probably makes his theft acceptable.

There's only one problem with this whole "author career" of mine, and it's that I'm not actually making all that much money from it. I like to say I have a burgeoning career; I am making a living, but it's a pretty dismal living. But that's all about to change. I've got a new game plan, a pen that's mightier than a sword—but not literally because I'm terrified of violence—and a bunch of words to put down on paper.

Unfortunately, my plan gets thrown out the window the day I stumble upon a real live dead body. The next thing I know, I'm wrapped up neck deep in a murder investigation with the superhot cop who is also my ex-boyfriend. It's all fun and games until the killer starts coming for me, and then I start wondering how I can write the end when I might be next?

A totally gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat

Max Donovan, a man who uses his knowledge of far-flung corners of the earth and a fair bit of muscle to "fix things," is relaxing by the sea in Senegal.

But his much-needed holiday after a botched operation in Malaysia, where he broke more than he fixed, is abruptly interrupted when a man is knifed on the beach.

When Donovan makes chase, the killer steals his car. Not a wise move. Donovan is now motivated to hunt him down. His curiosity has got the better of him, anyway.

His adversary is a hitman who has traveled to Senegal to fix a few things of his own. No stranger to danger, he is closing in for another kill.

The thrilling game of cat-and-mouse that ensues leaves the busy markets and bars of Dakar and heads into tropical forests and arid savannah, where poachers, smugglers, crocs, and lions, are all waiting to pounce.

Will Donovan get his man or has he met his match?

Mark Lausson has everything he thought he wanted: a coveted job at elite Sawyer College in Ohio. But at the start of his second year, stuck in a small town with deadlines piling up and paychecks falling short, Mark can already feel the fantasy crumbling. And then, a few weeks in, sophomore Tyler Cunningham shows up in class. In Tyler—confident, mysterious, and popular—Mark glimpses another way of being in the world. He finds Tyler’s self-possession both compelling and unsettling. Caught in the rush of sex and secrets, Mark ignores the increasing evidence that Tyler can’t be trusted. Intense, propulsive, and impossible to put down, Providence is perfect for readers of P. J. Vernon’s Bath Haus and Donna Tartt’s The Secret History, as well as Patricia Highsmith’s Talented Mr. Ripley and Garth Greenwell’s What Belongs to You.
