Summary

The Book of Zakharian is set in the years 421 through 419 BCE, years 2 through 4 of King Darius II of the Persian Empire. Most scholars accept that the first eight chapters of Zakharian were written shortly after 421 BCE at the same time as Haggai, however, the later six chapters appear to be a much older prophecy of Shadrach that became embedded in Zakharian / Zachariah at some point. Very little is known about the prophet Zakharian, as the era he lived in is part of the so-called missing years of Rabbinical history. His world was very different from the later Kingdom of Judea that emerged in the 2nd century BCE, as the Israelites of his time were still worshiping several deities, as evidenced by the Elephantine papyri. The name of the prophet is different in the Septuagint’s version of the book versus the Masoretic version. All copies of the Septuagint use the name Zakharian exclusively, with the name Zakharías only appearing in Forwards and Conclusions that later theologians added. This is generally ignored by translators as Zakharian is the accusative inflection of Zakharías, the Greek form of Zǝkaryâ. As a result, most translations render the name as either Zacharias or Zachariah, and ignore the name Zakharian. However, the Septuagint manuscripts use the form of Zakharian exclusively, regardless of the context, indicating that Zkryn was in the texts they translated. This may be the result of an Egypto-Israelite alteration, however, it may also be a relic of the original name. The name Zkryh means “has remembered Yehwa,” however, the name Zkryn means “Has remembered Ỏn.”

Exploring the often-overlooked Scriptures about reward and judgment for Christians, Dr. Lutzer answers questions like:How will believers be judged?Do rewards for faithfulness vary?If heaven is perfect, why do rewards even matter?
His answers are immensely practical. Your Eternal Reward will prompt you to live more faithfully, whether in your conduct, your speech, or even your use of money, that you might enjoy heaven all the more. What is sown on earth is reaped in heaven, and Dr. Lutzer will have you taking this truth to heart.

Bestselling author Thom S. Rainer (I Am a Church Member, Autopsy of a Deceased Church) has heard comments like these hundreds, if not thousands, of times. They are statements of hopelessness. They are statements of despair. They are statements of defeat. Church leaders don't want to feel this way. They desire to break out of the mediocrity of the same, lame, and tame existence of their churches. They want their churches to make a difference.

There is hope. God's hope. God's possibilities.

What does a scrappy church look like? Let's take a look together.

ARE YOU THE REAL WOMAN GOD CREATED YOU TO BE?

HAVE YOU WANTED TO BECOME HER—SPIRITUALLY, PERSONALLY, AND PROFESSIONALLY?

Kimberla Lawson Roby admits that for years, she wasn’t being the real woman God created her to be. Yes, she has always loved God and tried her best to honor Him, but what she eventually discovered was that building and maintaining her own personal relationship with God—and making Him her top priority—was the key to finding joy in all areas of her life.

Now, in The Woman God Created You to Be, Kimberla has bravely—and transparently—written about her flaws, fears, and failures, as well as her faith, courage, and successes. From experiencing divorce to marrying her soulmate of twenty-nine years … from hopelessly searching for the perfect job to becoming a New York Times bestselling author … from suffering in silence with anxiety to concentrating on self-care … from struggling with the loss of her mom to finding strength, comfort, peace, and understanding—Kimberla takes you on a journey that will help you do the following:

    • Become the Best Spiritual You (Seven Days Per Week)
    • Become the Best Personal You (Mentally, Emotionally, and Physically)
    • Become the Best Professional You (Without Jeopardizing Your Faith)

Kimberla reminds us that when we trust and depend on God—heart, mind, and soul—He will empower us to do more than we ever thought imaginable. He will help us see that we are more than enough, and that He has already given us everything we need to become the women He created us to be—spiritually, personally, professionally … and beyond.
