Sinopse

Few books have generated as many debates about geographical features as the book of Exodus. It describes in detail a series of wonders that the Lord God of the Israelites, performed to cause them to be freed from their slavery in the country, and then their trek across the wilderness to a mountain on which God descended and gave them the Torah. The wonders themselves have been the source of much speculation in the past 2500 years, but the trek across the wilderness and the location of the mountain of God are the real issues most commonly debated, although ironically, not generally by Jews, Samaritans, or Beta Israelites, the three groups that actually try to follow laws found in the Torah. Most of the speculation about the geography has been by Christian and Islamic scholars, who have tried to retrace the path the Israelites took out of Egypt in order to find the mountain of God, however, many mountains have been found following the places listed along the route, as most of the locations are debated. Half a dozen mountains have been identified, each with a list of locations along the route that may or may not be the original locations. This doesn't appear to be a new problem, as even then names for the mountain in the Torah and other ancient Hebrew texts changes from one paragraph to the next. This mountain is called both Sinai and Horeb throughout the Torah, and then Seir in the book of Judges, which is widely regarded as being the oldest Hebrew text that has not been heavily redacted. Most of the confusion about where the mountain is, is derived from the various interpretations of the route the Israelites took out of Egypt, as well as who the Israelites were while they were in Egypt. Some of this confusion was clearly caused by the translation of the Septuagint at the Library of Alexandria circa 250 BC. The Greek translators used the term Erythrean Sea to translate the Hebrew term Suf Yam which simply translates as 'Reed Sea' or 'Papyrus Sea.' The Greek term Erythrean Sea was an adopted Persian term that referred to the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea. No doubt the Greek translators were covering their bases, as they had no idea where the events of the Suf Yam had taken place. This mistranslation has unfortunately been carried into virtually all Christian translations of the Hebrew Scriptures as 'Red Sea,' including those made from the Masoretic Texts which do not mention the Red Sea. Ironically, this has even been re-imported to Hebrew, where the name for the Red Sea is now Suf Yam, making the ancient Greek mistranslation look correct. Nevertheless, ancient Egyptian records that have been translated in the past couple of centuries clarify the location of the event, and it is not in the Red Sea, which almost all translations of the Torah and Bibles report.

Much of the earthly ministry of Jesus revolved around healing the sick. It wasn’t just something our Lord did randomly. It was a crucial piece of Christ’s redemptive work. Now, more than 2,000 years after His death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven, that hasn’t changed.Jesus is still in the business of healing. And to understand the healing works of Jesus today, what better place to look than His healing ministry when He was dwelling among us?In A Physician’s Insights on the Great Physician, Pastor Bayless Conley examines the writings of Luke—a physician who penned both the gospel that bears his name and the book of Acts—to draw insights from how, when, and why Jesus healed the sick. Due to his medical training, Dr. Luke could tell of Jesus’ healing ministry (as well as the Holy Spirit’s healing ministry through the early church) with detail often not used by the other gospel writers. His writings reveal many of God’s promises that you can believe and act upon today.Filled with examples of healing from Scripture and Pastor Bayless’ own life and ministry, this book will help your faith come alive as you embrace Jesus as your true and perfect Physician who is still willing, able, and ready to be your Healer today.

He could recognize each note and play every chord to create the most beautiful melodies ever heard. In no time, he became the pride of his hometown, and many believed he was on the road to becoming the youngest and most talented guitarist of his time.
However, his ambitions were thwarted when his niece, Elena, was diagnosed with cancer. Losing all hope, the only way he could ensure her survival and his brother's happiness was to make a deal with the Devil. The catch? He had to give up God's gift and never play his guitar again.
Thus, the once-celebrated young talent of Comanche had to choose the dreary life of a truck driver, giving up his gift and his dreams so that his niece would get cured. But much to his disappointment, after being cured, Elena turned out to be quite selfish and caused much trouble to their family.
The roads ahead of Josh were different from what he had dreamt of, but Josh refused to give up. Will he be able to fulfill all the conditions, or will Elena's temper drive him to break that deal?

“In Serious Joy, Joey Tomlinson introduces readers to the seventy Resolutions Jonathan Edwards wrote when he was only nineteen years old, showing how they are directly relevant and needful for Christians today.
Each resolution is expounded on by Tomlinson in a way that helps the reader establish a regular rhythm of private worship by pointing them to the Scriptures that underpin each resolution. Furthermore, Tomlinson harmonizes the resolutions with other writings of Edwards that bring them into better focus. The goal of this approach is to exalt Christ, foster meditation and prayer, and demonstrate how serious joy in Christ leads to growth in Christlikeness. All of this is accomplished by tethering the reader to the theology of Jonathan Edwards. In so doing, Tomlinson succeeds in bringing a fresh approach to the writings of Edwards by making them more approachable for the Christian who wants to understand the significance and importance of Edwards’ contribution to Christian theology.
