Sinopsis

Harriet Tubman, born Araminta Ross, (c. 1822 – 1913) was an American abolitionist, humanitarian, and an armed scout and spy for the United States Army during the American Civil War. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some thirteen missions to rescue approximately seventy enslaved people, family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Sarah Hopkins Bradford (1818 – 1912) was an American writer and historian, best known today for her two pioneering biographical books on Harriet Tubman. Bradford was one of the first Caucasian writers to deal with African-American topics, and her work attracted worldwide fame, selling very well. Recreating 1960s Johannesburg through his adolescent eyes, bestselling South African author Denis Hirson gradually reveals the details of his extraordinary thirteenth birthday as he explores the familial and political divisions in Apartheid South Africa that weighed on him and his developing consciousness of his Jewish heritage.

My Thirty-Minute Bar Mitzvah is a gem of a book about becoming a man. By the time he was 21 years old, Eddie Fisher was one of America's most popular entertainers. But for Eddie, that was only the beginning of a two-decade affair with fame and fortune that made him more popular than Frank Sinatra, turned out more consecutive hit records than the Beatles, and earned him millions of dollars. He married America's sweetheart, Debbie Reynolds, then left her for the world's most glamorous woman, Elizabeth Taylor. In between it all there were wild parties with Sinatra and the Rat Pack, meetings with Sam Giancana, and high-rolling escapades in Las Vegas. With honesty and wit, Fisher re-creates one of America's most colorful eras, along with the roller-coaster ride that was his life— including recollections that were too steamy for his previous memoir.

I have created a memoir based narrative road map so that other young women can enjoy their feminity and gain a sense of inner strength while avoiding some of the painful roadblocks, quicksand, and dead ends that many falsely believe are a fact of life. I worked diligently to educate and rebuild myself and I have sifted through the years of workshops, manuscripts, therapists and outlets to highlight the few tools that I find to be the most efficient.
In Five Gallons to Empty I share with honesty and vulnerability, my journey from despair and pain to strength and inner fortitude. It is my deepest desire to inspire other young women and to help them avoid the painful, unnecessary, and avoidable trials to which so many fall victim. It primarily approaches the subjects of sex, drugs and confidence.
I have invested a tremendous amount of time, money, and emotion into this book. But in the end, it is not about me; it is about serving as a guide to young women. I believe they need one. I believe I am one. If you have taken note lately of their current role models, or if you have a daughter, you may agree that they are in dire need of a stronger voice. I am excited to see this audiobook release and to passionately market it so that young women everywhere can learn from my mistakes and live comfortably, powerfully, and productively.
