Summary

This carefully crafted ebook: “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (The Complete Illustrated Edition)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The Poem relates the experiences of a sailor who has returned from a long sea voyage. The mariner stops a man who is on the way to a wedding ceremony and begins to narrate a story. The wedding-guest's reaction turns from bemusement to impatience to fear to fascination as the mariner's story progresses, as can be seen in the language style: Coleridge uses narrative techniques such as personification and repetition to create a sense of danger, the supernatural, or serenity, depending on the mood in different parts of the poem. Along with other poems in Lyrical Ballads, it was a signal shift to modern poetry and the beginning of British Romantic literature.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772 – 1834) was an English poet, literary critic and philosopher who, with his friend William Wordsworth, was a founder of the Romantic Movement in England and a member of the Lake Poets.

“A colossus among critics. . . . His enthusiasm for literature is a joyous intoxicant.” —New York TimesIn this charming anthology, esteemed literary critic Harold Bloom collects the last poems of history's most important and celebrated poets. As with his immensely popular Best Poems of the English Language, Bloom has carefully curated and annotated the final works of one hundred poets in Till I End My Song, with selections from John Keats, T.S. Eliot, Elizabeth Bishop, Emily Dickinson, Dylan Thomas, Robert Frost, D.H. Lawrence, W.H. Auden, John Milton, Herman Melville, Emily Brontë, and others. Written with the same wise and discerning commentary of earlier books—including his acclaimed Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human and The Book of J—Till I End My Song is a moving and provocative meditation on the relationship between art, meaning, and ultimately, death, from the literary titan of our time.

Misalliance, a 1910 play by George Bernard Shaw, is an ironic examination of the romantic entanglements of a varied group of people gathered at a wealthy man's country home on a summer weekend. Most of the romantic interest centers on the host's daughter, Hypatia Tarleton, a typical Shaw heroine who exemplifies his lifelong theory that in courtship, women are the relentless pursuers and men the apprehensively pursued. Hypatia is the daughter of newly-wealthy John Tarleton who made his fortune in the unglamorous but lucrative underwear business. She is fed up with the stuffy conventions that surround her and with the hyperactive talk of the men in her life. Hypatia is engaged to Bentley Summerhays, an intellectually bright but emotionally underdeveloped aristocrat. Hypatia is restless with her engagement as the play starts, even as it is revealed she has also had a proposal of engagement from her betrothed's father, Lord Summerhays. She longs for some adventure to drop out of the sky, and it does: an aircraft crashes through the roof of the conservatory. The plane's passengers, a handsome young pilot and a Polish acrobat, shake up the house party considerably. This book is designed initially for Japanese learners, N5 to N3, but it's also suitable for people looking for a bilingual novel in Japanese and English.
The main character, Kevin Cartwright, visits Japan on Working Holiday, and he falls in love with a Japanese woman who is a colleague of his Japanese best friend, Yukio. And Tomoko, an almost "Yandere" woman who loves Yukio, is involved in Kevin's life. The four main characters weave this story. Kevin enjoys living in Japan, but he wants to remain there after his expired visa. The readers would experience through Kevin living in Tokyo; how to write a Japanese CV, manners, and culture. Through the stories, I introduce many idioms and expressions native Japanese use. It consists of 16 chapters, and each one comes along with word lists and 20 JLPT practice tests. This book is also great for intermediate levels because they need to understand more natural living Japanese. The audible version comes soon! The learners can listen to the stories in both English and Japanese and practice pronouncing words. I hope you enjoy studying Japanese with this book!
