  Iran, under the rule of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi until 1979, had enjoyed a close relationship with the West, particularly the United States. The Shah’s regime was modernizing but also increasingly authoritarian, and his reliance on foreign powers alienated large segments of the Iranian population. This discontent culminated in the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which swept Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to power and replaced the monarchy with a theocratic republic. The revolution shocked the region, especially its Sunni neighbors and secular governments, as Iran began exporting its revolutionary ideology and calling for the overthrow of what it labeled as corrupt, un-Islamic regimes. 
  Iraq, ruled by the secular Ba'ath Party under Saddam Hussein, was especially alarmed. Not only did Iraq share a long and often contentious border with Iran, but it also had a significant Shi’a majority population that Saddam feared could be influenced by Khomeini’s message. Additionally, Iraq had longstanding territorial disputes with Iran, particularly over the Shatt al-Arab waterway, a critical channel for oil exports. Saddam believed that post-revolution Iran, weakened by purges and internal strife, presented a unique opportunity for Iraq to assert dominance in the region.

Francesca Tripodi argues that conservatives who embody the Christian worldview give authoritative weight to original texts and interrogate the media using the same tools taught to them in Bible study—for example, using Google to "fact check" the news. The result of this practice, tied to conservative marketing tactics, is more than a reaffirmation of existing beliefs: it is a radicalization of content and a changing of narratives adopted by the media. Tripodi also demonstrates the pervasiveness of white supremacy in the conservative media ecosystem, as well as its mainstream appeal, scope, and spread.

  This book consists of two titles, which are real even in the history of the Netherlands: 
  Battle of Waterloo - The Battle of Waterloo, fought on June 18, 1815, near the village of Waterloo in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (present-day Belgium), was a decisive conflict that ended the Napoleonic Wars. The battle pitted the French army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, against two powerful forces from the Seventh Coalition. One of these was a British-led coalition under the command of the Duke of Wellington, which included troops from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hanover, Brunswick, and Nassau. The other force was a larger Prussian army commanded by Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher. Together, these forces effectively crushed Napoleon's ambitions and marked the final chapter in his reign. The battle was also known as the Battle of Mont Saint-Jean (to the French) or La Belle Alliance (to the Prussians). 
  Tulip Mania - Tulip Mania, often considered the first recorded speculative bubble in history, took place during the Dutch Golden Age in the early 17th century. This period saw some tulip bulbs, which had been newly introduced to Europe, achieve extraordinary prices. The peak of the tulip market occurred in 1634, with prices reaching unbelievable levels before plummeting drastically in February 1637. This event is frequently cited as an early example of an asset bubble, where the prices of goods diverged dramatically from their intrinsic value. The tulip mania of the 1630s remains one of the most notable cases of speculative fever in financial history.

  Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (October 27, 1858 - January 6, 1919) was an American politician, statesman, soldier, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. He previously served as the 25th vice president under President William McKinley from March to September 1901 and as the 33rd governor of New York from 1899 to 1900. Assuming the presidency after McKinley's assassination, Roosevelt emerged as a leader of the Republican Party and became a driving force for anti-trust and Progressive policies.

  The Third Reich's Luftwaffe began World War II with significant advantages over other European air forces, playing a critical role in the German war machine's swift, powerful advance. By war's end, however, the Luftwaffe had been decimated by combat losses and crippled by poor decisions at the highest levels of military decision-making, and it proved unable to challenge Allied air superiority despite a last-minute upsurge in German aircraft production. 
  Few people personified the advancements and abilities of the Luftwaffe like Erich Hartmann, the most successful ace in the history of warfare. His records are made all the more remarkable by the fact that he came late to the Second World War. It had already been underway for more than three years when, on October 14, 1942, at the furthest extremity of Germany’s advance into Russia, he strapped himself into the cockpit of his Messerschmitt 109 for his first combat mission. Born in April 1922, he was still just 20, but he was certainly prepared and ready. He had been flying gliders since his early teens - including as a glider instructor with the Hitler Youth - and he received a pilot’s license for powered aircraft in 1937.  
  Over the course of the war, Hartmann was credited with shooting down 352 enemy aircraft, 345 of which were Russian and seven being American, making him the most successful combat fighter of all time. In fact, the number is so incredible that it has inevitably come under intense criticism and scrutiny over the years, with some suggesting outright that the figure is falsified, while others have pointed to the unique combat circumstances of the Russian front and suggested that aerial combat there was somehow easier.
