When the day calls for re-fueling with some tasty plates in between the surf, All-Day Dining includes Fish Tacos with Chipotle-lime Cream and Grilled Halloumi with a zingy Jalapeño, Lime & Tequila Relish. Gather round the grill to cook delicious food to share from Beachside BBQ, such as Grilled Lobster or create Sunset Suppers of Thai-steamed Snapper or Sunshine Laksa. As you drift into the dusk, savour desserts that celebrate crisp, ripe produce such as Lychee Sorbet or Yogurt Panna Cotta. Fresh, luscious and creative, these flavourful recipes are inspired by cuisines from the best beaches and surf spots around the globe including Australia, California, Hawaii, Thailand, Indonesia and beyond. Dogs and humans have lived, worked and played together for thousands of years and strong bonds have formed between them. With luck and care, the training, management and handling of a Gundog will progress without a hitch. The luck begins with natural talent on both sides and the care ensures that correct choices are made and good sense prevails. However, things can still go wrong. This book offers solutions to the problems that may occur along the way. There are hundreds of different types of dog and each one has its own character. Because of this, one size does not fit all when tackling a problem, and different approaches are offered. Observation, determination and perseverance will usually be rewarded.

    The Dictionary of Posh -...

The Dictionary of Posh serves as an essential guide to the (ab)use of many English words by the decidedly up-market and the resultant — and endangered — language they speak: Posh.

Hugh Kellett hilariously captures the spirit and nuances of those who speak Posh and, allied with Oliver Preston's brilliantly accurate cartoons, this book is the key to understanding and interpreting this language ?— literally with tongue-in-cheek.

Hidden within normal English is a separate language still spoken by those born with silver spoons in their mouths. It's called Posh. A word of English can be spelt the same but mean something completely different in Posh. If you say the word 'Mention' in English, people will understand 'Remark upon'; but in Posh this means a large house. Say 'Ace' and speakers of Posh will think you are referring to a cold thing one's butler puts in one's G&T.

  • Delhi Sultanate - Muslim Dynasties That Shaped Medieval India - cover

    Delhi Sultanate - Muslim...

The Delhi Sultanate was a defining era in Indian history, marking the establishment of Muslim rule in northern India. Its rise was shaped by a series of invasions, strategic conquests, and the formation of a centralized administration. The foundation of the Sultanate can be traced back to the late 12th century when Muslim forces, primarily from Central Asia, began making inroads into the Indian subcontinent. These incursions set the stage for a new political order that would influence the region for centuries.
One of the earliest significant Muslim invasions was led by Mahmud of Ghazni in the 11th century. Although he did not establish permanent rule, his raids weakened Indian kingdoms and demonstrated the vulnerability of the region. However, it was Muhammad Ghori in the late 12th century who laid the groundwork for the Delhi Sultanate. Unlike Mahmud, Ghori aimed for long-term control rather than mere plundering. His victory over Prithviraj Chauhan at the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192 was a turning point, allowing Muslim forces to establish a foothold in northern India.
Following Ghori’s assassination in 1206, his general, Qutb al-Din Aibak, took control of his Indian territories and proclaimed himself the first Sultan of Delhi. Aibak, originally a slave who rose through the ranks, became the founder of the Mamluk or Slave Dynasty. He consolidated his rule by strengthening administrative structures and commissioning architectural marvels like the Qutb Minar, which symbolized the establishment of Muslim rule. However, his reign was short-lived, and his successor, Iltutmish, played a more crucial role in shaping the Delhi Sultanate into a powerful and stable empire.
