A war of the roses ignites between feuding small-town neighbors in this fun, slow-burn lesbian romance.

Retired master florist Kate Willow moved to remote Serenity Springs for one thing: peace. All she wants is a glass of wine, her creaky rocking chair, and the company of her horse, Moose.

Her effervescent neighbor Margot Reed is sunshine and glitter-soaked chaos who just won't leave her alone. Worse, Margot's wild, messy garden ruins Kate's tranquil view and chafes her fraying nerves.

Their simmering rivalry ignites every year at the Rose Festival. Margot has won for five years straight—a crown Kate is determined to reclaim. But when a crisis forces them to work together, they discover beneath the passive-aggressive barbs an unlikely attraction is starting to bloom.

In these peculiar times, we are thrust back into ourselves in a kind of suspension: one in which only private life exists yet threatens to become trivial through a sense of mutual, overarching dread.
Lent from award-winning writer Kate Cayley is built from this tension, exploring domestic and artistic life amidst the environmental crisis and the surprising ways that every philosophical quandary—large and small—converges in the home, in small objects, conversations, and moments. The grotesque and the tedious, the baroque and the banal, intertwine in the first three sections. Meticulous depictions of spectacle run into the repetition of daily domestic life: trying to explain time to children, day trips to the planetarium, and the warnings of strangers; these are interspersed with depictions such as Mary Shelley recalling the monster, the inner life of a seventeenth century portrait sitter, and Ted Hughes's second wife telling her story to the dead Sylvia Plath. The title section explores religious faith; how belief is itself a repetition, a slow accumulation over time, just like love or forgiveness.
Lent is an exquisite work of our era, asking us to contemplate what it means to live in a broken world—and why we still find it beautiful.

Sequel to Not Your Father's Mafia
Tito Barbarotti, heir to a crime family empire, is set to marry his ex-FBI fiancé Rico in what they hoped would be a small, tasteful ceremony. But between CBD ventures, blockchain dreams, and a wildly overinvolved family that turns every gathering into a spectacle, the idea of a quiet celebration quickly becomes laughable.
As the newlyweds navigate meddling relatives, emotional revelations, and a honeymoon that goes completely off the rails, they discover that love -- especially the kind worth fighting for -- is rarely quiet, often messy, and always worth it.
The undeniable question remains: will Tito and Rico make it -- all of it -- through, despite two meddlesome families, erupting chaos around every unexpected corner, and their own desperate need to find a place of their own where they can dream of making the perfect wine, and maintain their already magical relationship? Or will their two incompatible families, rambunctious Italian on the one hand, and Southern dignity on the other, drive them apart?
