Sinopsis

Ever since he left the forest, a boy from another world named Ryoma had been cared for by the duke's family. Rather than take advantage of their generosity, however, he's determined to live independently. Seeking to earn a stable income, he decides that alongside his adventuring job, he'll use his cleaner slimes to open a brand new laundromat! After he sets up his store by himself and hires some excellent employees, the laundromat opens to praise that far surpasses Ryoma's expectations. As business gets busier and more exciting, he also gets ahold of some new familiars in the third installment of this daily life fantasy!

Four centuries in the future, the world is rich—nanomachines watch the health of the wealthy and manufacture food and gadgets for everybody—but no utopia, as we see in the lives of five very different people: a singing teacher, a news researcher, a police investigator, a politician, and a ruthless businessman.

Theirs is a society where technology takes care of everyone's basic needs but leaves most people struggling to extract a meaningful life from a world crowded with wonders but empty of commitment and human connection. Alternating the voices and experiences of these five characters in a tour de force of imaginative creation, L. E. Modesitt overlaps, combines, and builds their disparate stories into a brilliant tale of future crime and investigation, esthetic challenge, and personal triumph.

In the same way that he has built fantasy landscapes of surpassing fascination, Modesitt creates a believable future, one imbued with a deep understanding of the way politics work and how people act and react when their sense of themselves, of justice, and truth, is exploited by others for power and control. When there's nothing left to need or want, will beauty live on in people's lives or disappear forever?

    Every vice has a face.

You've probably heard of the seven deadly sins: Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and Sloth.

There's a bit of each of these in everyone.

When the Seven Deadlies emerged from Hades, everything changed.

A single touch by the Deadly and you're infected . . . consumed with his vice.

Every vice kills in its own way. These vices are deadlier than I ever imagined. I have the power to stop them . . . but there's just one problem. Each one I kill with my powers empowers an ancient Akkadian god with designs on usurping every other pantheon and taking over the world.

I might need the help of an old friend if I stand a chance to stop these things.

Can Zoey and I stop the Seven Deadlies before the world is overwhelmed with vice?

From humor to sentimentality, these stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald are set against a backdrop of jazz, flappers, and the changing mores of American society. In "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," wallflower Bernice is taken in hand by her more popular cousin, whose motives are not entirely altruistic. In "Benediction," a young woman visits her brother in the seminary. A camel goes to a party in "The Camel's Back." "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a poignant fantasy about a man who ages backward. Finally, tragedy befalls a young couple in "The Lees of Happiness." The stories in this collection are from the books Flappers and Philosophers and Tales of the Jazz Age.

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was an American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He is best known for his novels depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age—a term he popularized. During his lifetime, he published four novels, four story collections, and 164 short stories.
