Sinopse

Hands-On Data Preprocessing is a primer on the best data cleaning and preprocessing techniques, written by an expert who’s developed college-level courses on data preprocessing and related subjects.
With this book, you’ll be equipped with the optimum data preprocessing techniques from multiple perspectives, ensuring that you get the best possible insights from your data.
You'll learn about different technical and analytical aspects of data preprocessing – data collection, data cleaning, data integration, data reduction, and data transformation – and get to grips with implementing them using the open source Python programming environment.
The hands-on examples and easy-to-follow chapters will help you gain a comprehensive articulation of data preprocessing, its whys and hows, and identify opportunities where data analytics could lead to more effective decision making. As you progress through the chapters, you’ll also understand the role of data management systems and technologies for effective analytics and how to use APIs to pull data.
By the end of this Python data preprocessing book, you'll be able to use Python to read, manipulate, and analyze data; perform data cleaning, integration, reduction, and transformation techniques, and handle outliers or missing values to effectively prepare data for analytic tools.

Environmental and Geological Sciences: Forces Shaping the World is a comprehensive guide that examines the dynamic processes and forces responsible for shaping our planet. This 3-in-1 volume delves into the study of Seismology, Volcanology, and Limnology, providing readers with essential knowledge of how natural forces affect the Earth’s surface and its ecosystems.
In the first section, Seismology, readers will explore the science of earthquakes, the forces that generate seismic waves, and the tools used to measure and understand these powerful events. This section discusses the Earth’s internal structure, plate tectonics, and how seismic activity is monitored to predict and mitigate the impact of earthquakes, ultimately highlighting the influence of seismic forces on the environment.
Next, Volcanology offers an in-depth look at the study of volcanoes and volcanic activity. This section covers the geological processes that lead to the formation and eruption of volcanoes, as well as the environmental and societal consequences of volcanic events. Readers will gain insight into the types of volcanic eruptions, lava flows, and the role of volcanoes in shaping the Earth's landscapes over time.
The final section, Limnology, focuses on the study of inland aquatic environments, particularly lakes and rivers. Limnology explores the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of freshwater ecosystems, as well as the human impact on these vital resources. From the study of water quality to the management of freshwater habitats, this section offers essential insights into how freshwater environments are influenced by natural processes and human activities.

What is the meaning of existence? Is there a "Grand Architect"? Is there an ultimate truth searched for by countless generations and lost in the mists of time?

Today we have a new science, a new terminology to explain and expound upon the biggest beliefs and religious systems. It has become apparent that the truth and understanding of our inner selves is, in the end, our ultimate quest. The void between belief and reality is indicative of the troubled planet we live on. As we all approach a dynamic future, the answers will emerge, although they might not be what we're expecting.

Quantum optics is the study of the interaction between light and matter at the quantum level. It combines the principles of quantum mechanics and electromagnetic theory to explain the behavior of photons and their interactions with atoms, molecules, and other quantum systems. Unlike classical optics, which treats light as a continuous electromagnetic wave, quantum optics describes light as being composed of discrete particles called photons, each carrying a quantized amount of energy proportional to its frequency. The development of quantum optics has led to a deeper understanding of fundamental quantum phenomena, including entanglement, superposition, and quantum coherence.
The foundations of quantum optics were laid in the early 20th century with the development of quantum theory. In 1905, Albert Einstein proposed the photon theory of light to explain the photoelectric effect — the emission of electrons from a metal surface when exposed to light. Einstein suggested that light consists of discrete energy packets (photons) with energy E=hνE = h\nu, where hh is Planck's constant and ν\nu is the frequency of light. This idea introduced the concept of wave-particle duality, which was later incorporated into the broader framework of quantum mechanics.

Rivers, canals, and many glorious waterways are championed and admired at every opportunity. Sadly, not so the humble ditch, yet they are the all-important capillaries supplying the veins of our far more visual watercourses.
In no way a dry riverbed of hard facts, A Year in a Ditch is informative and a source of knowledge to anyone interested in exploring the delights and habitat created by ditches, many of which are absolutely vital to the success of some of the rarest flora and fauna. Whilst discussing the role of the ditch past, present, and future, it also flows full of relevant quirky notes and detail; old wives tales, quotations, and snippets of poetry. Within these minutes can be found something to fascinate and interest those involved in countryside management, the naturalist, environmentalist, rural explorer, aspiring country dweller—anyone, in fact, who would like to know more about the oft-neglected thousands of miles of ditches that wend their way unobtrusively through the British countryside.

Many of us spend a great deal of our time dreaming about our next trip to the mountains, whether for a weekend getaway or our yearly vacation. We hear within that deep inexplicable pull toward the wilderness and would agree with John Muir, who said: "The mountains are calling and I must go." We sense that in the wild we are touching the edge of something that is both wonderful and mysterious.
In this book Erik Stensland, a professional landscape photographer based in Estes Park, Colorado, explores this longing we have for the wilderness and suggests that it is the trailhead for a journey to wholeness. Through short daily reflections on the natural world paired with his gorgeous photos from Rocky Mountain National Park, he encourages us to go deeper within ourselves and discover the healing that nature is offering.
