In these pages are the continuation of Flashlight, Knife and Flowered Crown. Hands of a Toolmaker presents another tale of rage, but this time it is contained and honed into a weapon. In the story The Feline, The Witch and The Universe a witch travels the cosmos in search of her lost cat and finds something she didn't know was missing. To balance the issue we have Slough, a story of the past coming back to haunt. In Kirti, karma serves a sour dish to one man. The stories are knit together with a variety of verse from some of the finest speculative poets publishing today. 
  ​Whether you read in print, digital or listen to the audio production, this issue will warm and entertain until spring.

  Part of Deirdre Kinahan's trilogy of landmark plays commemorating seven years of warfare in Ireland, Embargo focuses on a pivotal moment during the Irish War of Independence.
  It is September 1920. Dockers and railmen are refusing to transport armed troops or handle any weapons arriving from Britain. Three characters are caught up in the whirl of historical events in a poetic, bloody and heroic tale of industrial action and civic resistance.
  Embargo was first staged by Fishamble: The New Play Company, in association with Iarnród Éireann and Dublin Port Company, in October 2020, streamed live online from the Pumphouse in Dublin Port, as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival.
  Deirdre Kinahan's Raging trilogy tells powerful stories drawing on a tumultuous period of conflict in Irish history, from the 1916 Easter Rising to the Civil War which began in 1922. Each of the three plays – Wild Sky, Embargo and Outrage – was first performed a century after the event which it depicts, and they were commissioned and performed by companies including Fishamble: The New Play Company, Meath County Council Arts Office, Dublin Port Company and Iarnród Éireann.

  Stories to Share With My Partner...

  An anthology of stories can be a fun thing or a scary one. 
  Deciding what goes into an anthology can be daunting. Too much romance and some folks may decide it is ‘too mushy’. Put too much humour in, and others will say, ‘there is no substance’. Go with more science fiction, or fantasy, or horror, and you will have some folks just not pick up the book. 
  Finding the perfect ‘mix’ is a challenge for sure. 
  ‘Stories to Share with My Partner – Book 3’ presents what I hope is a good mix of stories and poetry to make everyone happy. 
  You have some love stories, ‘The Red Bug’ and the ‘The Coat’, for example, while science fiction is covered in ‘When the Future Arrives’ and ‘Coordinates’. 
  Funny stories are what I enjoy writing about, and there are few in this book. 
  ‘So That Is When the Fight Started’ is something many can relate too and in ‘Jerk’ I take a different approach to ‘superheroes’.
