Sinopsis

In the recent past, "missionary work" often meant bringing our familiar Gospel to faraway places and other peoples. In secular America today, however, even our own children know little about the Gospel. In this important contribution, Ronald Rolheiser, author of The Holy Longing, offers original chapters on the question of secularity, then introduces leading voices in Catholic thought to show how Christian faith can thrive in a secular world.

Do Not Conform - But be transformed

Do not conform to the ways of this world. As Christians living in a foreign land, how do we live while waiting to inherit our home in God's Kingdom? We must live in this present world while we are waiting. With all of its evil, crime and temptations and to do what the rest of the world is doing. Living by their standards.
Christians are to come out of this lifestyle and live according to the laws set up by God. We must know how we are living and not just fit into the ways of this world. We must always know our actions and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. This is not an easy thing to do, as the pressures and temptations of this world are powerful.
It is just too easy to fall into our old ways of living.
God tells us in "Rom 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we became a new creation as we see in
2Cor 5:17. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
We must resist the temptation to follow the world, or, in other words, we must not conform.
The best way to avoid the ways of this world is to keep reading the words from God, The Bible.
It is very easy to follow others, especially if we have family members, friends and relatives who are not interested in following Jesus. We may follow their examples because we are afraid of offending them. We are afraid they will leave us out of activities that we would usually attend.

Vatican II called the Bible “the support and energy of the Church,” “the pure and everlasting source of spiritual life,” and “the food of the soul.” Yet, for many Catholics, their engagement with Scripture is often limited to what they hear at Mass. In Food for the Soul (Cycle A), the first book in a riveting three-part series, celebrated philosopher Peter Kreeft invites the faithful—clergy and laity alike—to a heart-to-heart relationship with Christ the Word through the Word of the Scriptures. Moving through the first reading, second reading, and Gospel reading for each Sunday and other major liturgical celebrations throughout the three-year lectionary cycle, Kreeft brings the Mass readings to life with his trademark blend of wit and wisdom, challenging readers to plant their souls in the rich soil of Scripture and sharpen their minds with the Sword of the Spirit. Whether you are a layperson looking for additional insight on the readings at Mass, or a priest or deacon looking for inspiration for a homily, Food for the Soul is a gift to the whole Church from one of today’s greatest Christian writers.

    Read by the authors.
In a culture where people easily and hastily cancel relationships rather than cultivate them, discover what the Bible has to say about how we need to keep showing up for one another—even when we feel like walking away.
We are surrounded by choices. If we want to watch a movie, we have multiple platforms we can choose from. If we grow tired of a friend or conversation, we leave them on read. It's never been easier to tune out and make a switch when something doesn't go perfectly or when we are offended. It's easy to cancel something from our lives when it comes to technology, television shows, or choices of food and drinks. But what about canceling friends or family members when we are disappointed or offended by them?
In I'll See You Tomorrow, communication professor Dr. Heather Thompson Day and Seth Day tackle difficulties that people face in relationships and help them navigate through relational disappointment, conflict, and fear. The dangers of a relational cancel culture are a timely one. This book will help you:learn to extend grace to yourself and your loved ones in order to forgive and keep showing up,discover how childhood trauma continues to affect your relationships, stop waiting for an ideal and refuse to let it prevent you from what's possible, recognize the value of a healthy (and small) circle rather than a large one, and refuse to let fear of what may or may not happen cause you to miss the beauty of what is.
Blending personal stories with data and research in a way that inspires truth and helps people change their everyday mindsets, Heather and Seth encourage you to embrace this valuable truth: relationships don't have to be perfect to be fulfilling.

Following an attempt on her life, Hollyn realizes the USB containing her code has been stolen. Code that, in the wrong hands, could kill thousands. But Davis’s sable German shepherd, who has been specially trained to sniff out electronics, is the perfect dog to ensure this doesn’t end in disaster. They have no choice but to join up with a black ops group to protect Hollyn and hunt down the tech.
