Sinopse

What if the investment promoted as a shield for your retirement is actually engineered to strip it away?Across the United States, thousands of retirees and near-retirees are being steered into gold IRA deals they barely understand—sold as safe, patriotic, and inflation-proof. Behind the promises, however, lies a sophisticated financial machine built on fear, confusion, and hidden incentives. The Gold Grift Exposed pulls back the curtain on how the modern gold IRA industry really operates. This book follows the inner workings of precious metals companies that position themselves as protectors of financial freedom while quietly exploiting economic anxiety, distrust in institutions, and retirement uncertainty. From high-pressure marketing and misleading endorsements to inflated pricing structures and carefully crafted sales narratives, the system is designed to look responsible while producing devastating outcomes for everyday investors. You’ll discover how:Fear-based messaging turns market uncertainty into urgency“Exclusive” gold and rare-coin claims disguise extreme markupsTrusted voices and media placements legitimize risky dealsComplex rollover processes hide true costsLosses stay invisible until it’s time to sellWhat makes this exposé different is its focus on process, not rumor. It traces how these schemes function step by step, showing how ordinary Americans—acting in good faith—are guided into transactions that quietly drain retirement savings long before anyone realizes what has happened. This is not an argument against gold itself. It is an examination of how gold is sold, priced, and packaged inside retirement accounts—and why so many people are left shocked when the numbers finally surface.More than a true crime investigation, this book also serves as a warning and a guide. It explains how victims attempt recovery, why restitution is rare, and what investors can do to protect themselves before making irreversible decisions. If you’re considering a gold IRA, already invested in precious metals, or simply concerned about safeguarding your retirement in uncertain times, The Gold Grift Exposed offers clarity where the industry depends on confusion. This is the story behind the promises—and the truth most investors never hear until it’s too late.

A Confession is a beautiful and thorough dive into that timeless question, “What is the meaning of life?”.  After fifty-one years of life and during the height of his fame, Tolstoy began to question everything.  Through a creative and insightful analogy, Tolstoy depicts the crisis of reality that emerges when one questions the existence of God.  An existence that he had been taught since childhood and had followed along with his whole life.  He uses deduction and logic, rationality and reason, then allows for emotions and reactions and is ultimately able to land on the answers to his questions.  A decades long internal debate all laid out in this thoughtful and moving work.  Anyone who has struggled not only with faith, but with depression, personal identity, or existential confusion and contradictions will find a friend and ally in Leo Tolstoy. This series, published by ONE audiobooks, seeks to produce Classic Christian titles read by well known and loved Christian audiobook narrators.  ONE takes great care to cast these titles with readers who will provide an unmatched listening experience for these important works.Jonathan St. John brings his passion to every performance and is considered to be one of the top audiobook narrators in the industry.

I wasn't afraid of the ocean. I wasn't afraid of the unseen depths beneath the water, or what lurked below.I was afraid of being trapped in my own mind.Record-breaking swimmer Becca Mann was a young swimming prodigy. A two-time USA National champion, she was the youngest person ever to place in the Top 10 in four events at a single Olympic Trials and represented Team USA at four World Championships. But after years of sacrifice, relentless drive, and coming heartbreakingly close to Olympic glory—three times—Becca's dreams came crashing down. In Outside the Lanes, Becca shares her journey from the disappointment of Olympic defeat to making history as the first—and only—person to conquer the grueling, twenty-one-hour, forty-mile Maui Nui Tri-Channel Crossing. She also opens up about the mental battles that shaped her: confronting the sacrifices she endured, OCD, and the relentless pressure to succeed.More than just a story of a young athlete, Outside the Lanes is a powerful exploration of resilience, reinvention, and redefining what it means to win. This is an inspiring book for anyone who has ever dared to chase a dream by adventuring outside the lanes.

Some children still spent summer hopping in Kent. Our class went camping in Ashdown Forest, a change from the bomb sites. We had the cubs and brownies where we earned proficiency badges in a number of skills. On Sundays, the Lido was a short bus ride away.More of our relations now came from Ireland and our Christmas parties were exciting. Passing the scholarship meant losing friends but gaining new ones. Among my friends in the streets of Paddington, this meant I was an outsider once more - a mixed blessed.

A woman visits a haunted castle, and two friends share tales of the supernatural in these two gothic novels featured in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. In Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, the main character, Catherine, receives a reading list of gothic novels. Once thought to be fabricated by Austen, these novels were rediscovered in the 1920s and are now referred to as the “Northanger Horrid Novels.” Two of the Northanger Horrid Novels, The Castle of Wolfenbach and The Necromancer, are presented here as A Northanger Double Feature. With hidden identities, damsels in distress, creepy castles, and villainous Counts, The Castle of Wolfenbach (1793) is a showcase for the gothic genre. The story follows the beautiful Matilda as she escapes unwanted advances, braves the haunted castle, and attempts to find safety, and maybe even love, all while being pursued by her murderous uncle. The Castle of Wolfenbach is Eliza Parsons’s most famous novel and an important foundational work in the gothic genre. The Necromancer (1794) is by far the strangest of the Northanger Horrid Novels. The story begins with two friends, Herman and Hellfried, passing a stormy night by exchanging supernatural stories. The weirdness continues to unfold through a series of letters. The work is an example of the gothic genre’s use of framing narratives surrounding first person accounts from multiple characters. The Necromancer takes this trope to staggering heights by nesting multiple narratives inside each other. The resulting stories are a bizarre collection of violence and supernatural shenanigans centered around the mysterious Valkert, who is rumored to have returned from the dead. Both of these stories are amazing examples of early gothic works and can be enjoyed as such for fans of the genre or read as a companion to Austen’s Northanger Abbey.

"Seth Kantner illuminates an Alaska most of us will never know." —Andrea Barrett, author of Ship Fever

When Seth Kantner's Ordinary Wolves was published it was a literary revelation of sorts. In a raw, stylized voice it told the story of a white boy growing up with homesteading parents in Arctic Alaska and trying to reconcile his largely subsistence and Native-style upbringing with the expectations and realities tied to his race. It hit numerous bestseller lists, was critically acclaimed, and won a number of awards.

Seth's nonfiction second book, the memoir Shopping for Porcupine, was even more compelling for many—the same raw details of a homesteading upbringing, but intensely personal. Now, in Swallowed by the Great Land, he once again brings us into his lyrical wilderness existence.

Swallowed by the Great Land features slice-of-life essays that further reveal the duality in the author's own life today, and also in the village and community that he inhabits—a mosaic of all life on the tundra. Unique characters, village life, wilderness and the larger landscape, a warming Arctic, and hunting and other aspects of subsistence living are all explored in varied yet intimate stories.
