Summary

Sometimes, claiming a tax deduction from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may feel like asking a date out to the Prom. If she/he says yes then that’s great. But even if she/he says no then at least you asked. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Do you want to be able to claim every legal tax deduction? If your answer is yes then this book is for you. If you want more money in your own pocket rather than the tax man’s pocket then this book is for you. They say there are only two things certain in life: death and taxes.  But there is a third – tax deductions. If the tax man is going to take every cent he can then you have the right to claim every cent back. In this book I will show you how many of my clients have successfully claimed expenses as tax deductions even when the expenses are related to their beloved pet or service animal.

There are a lot of examples of types of expenses you can claim as tax deductions and my aim here is to show you that there is a whole additional world of possibilities when it comes to claiming pet and service animal related expenses as tax deductions. It really is up to the limits of your imagination - or your accountant’s imagination – albeit whilst staying within the realms of tax law. But the creative accounting ideas in this book will give you a head start and lead you in the right direction to claim the most tax deductions that you are legally entitled to.

When a squad of federal agents burst through her parents' front door, Victoria Fedden felt ill-prepared to meet them: She was weeks away from her due date, and her T-shirt wasn't long enough to hide her maternity undies. As for the question of how to raise a child when you've just discovered that your mother and stepfather have allegedly masterminded a pump-and-dump scheme? She was pretty sure that wasn't covered in What to Expect When You're Expecting-and she really hoped that Bradford Cohen, the noted criminal defense attorney who famously waived his exemption on The Apprentice, would prove them innocent. This Is Not My Beautiful Life is the story of how Victoria lost her parents to prison and nearly lost her mind. No one ever said motherhood would be easy, but as she struggles to change diapers, install car seats, and find the right drop-off line at preschool-no easy task when each one is named for a stage in the life cycle of a butterfly-she's also forced to ask herself whether a jumpsuit might actually complement her mom's platinum-blonde extensions and fend off the cast of shady, stranger-than-fiction characters who populated her parents' world.

A real-life underdog tale of one man turning the tables on the casinos and Wall Street without selling his soul to the devil

All around the world, the words “Wall Street” conjure up a powerful image. For some, it is the center of America’s capitalist system and the engine of its economic growth. For others, it is the home of rapacious bankers and reckless traders whose greed would lead to a global financial crisis. For an Indian-born blackjack player, Wall Street represented something else entirely — a chance for him to play in the largest casino in the world.

Kamal Gupta’s improbable journey, from a wide-eyed Indian immigrant to an ultimate insider in the rarefied world of investment banks and hedge funds, is a uniquely American story. Nowhere else would it have been possible for a scrawny computer scientist to enter the world of high finance solely on the basis of his gambling abilities. After spending seven years creating an investment methodology, Gupta went on an incredible run, generating an unprecedented 103 consecutive months of positive returns while managing money at large hedge funds. His success did not go unnoticed, and he found himself under constant pressure to take bigger risks to make even more money. He refused and always played it right, knowing that there was such a thing as “enough” money, something very few, if any, of his Wall Street peers understood.

Much like Maria Konnikova’s bestseller, The Biggest Bluff, Play It Right isn’t so much about money as it is about the human condition and beating the odds, whether at a casino, on Wall Street, or in life itself.
