Roberta: "It was amazing. This book is both fun and educational!! I love that the illustrations so clearly show the facial expressions of the children as they meet the terrible child eating giant only to find out that not all rumours are true. The story lends itself to discussions to help both emotional and moral development. As a teacher in Norway I also think this book is a wonderful way to introduce my children to Cambodia and it’s culture."Rob McCurdy: "A wonderful story that keeps the reader engaged by wondering what will happen next. It has so many opportunities for educating kids as there are concepts and messages hidden throughout the text that are just waiting to be explored. The illustrations are great, the emotions are stimulated and there is a certain amount of fun as well. A great link between two cultures and hopefully the first of many such stories."

Freud - Inventor of the Modern Mind

Sigmund Freud’s life bridged the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and his reputation and influence have endured, even intensified, in the twenty-first. Often referred to as “the father of psychoanalysis,” Freud did, in fact, conceive of many of its defining characteristics: he was the original advocate of the “talking cure,” and discovered--or, some argue, invented--the human unconscious.
Kramer’s take on Freud is at once critical and sympathetic: he recognizes what is archaic in Freud’s work and also what endures, interpreting him as not only a pioneer, but a writer whose work will survive among the classics of our literature.

This book closely examines the analyst's early experiences and character traits, demonstrating the impact they have on theory building and technique. Arguing that choice of theory and interventions are unconsciously shaped by clinicians' early experiences, this book argues for greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and open dialogue as a corrective.

Linking the analyst's early childhood experiences to ongoing vulnerabilities reflected in theory and practice, this book favors an approach that focuses on feedback and confrontation, as well as empathic understanding and acceptance. Essential to this task, and a thesis that runs through the book, are analysts' motivations for doing treatment and the gratifications they naturally seek. Maroda asserts that an enduring blind spot arises from clinicians' ongoing need to deny what they are personally seeking from the analytic process, including the need to rescue and be rescued. She equally seeks to remove the guilt and shame associated with these motivations, encouraging clinicians to embrace both their own humanity and their patients', rather than seeking to transcend them. Maroda confronts the analyst's tendencies to favor harmony over conflict, passivity over active interventions, and viewing the patient as an infant rather than an adult.

Named 2018 Book of the Year by International Rubery Book Award
The Edge of Innocence is a work of narrative nonfiction based on the 1964 murder trial of Casper Bennett, a man accused of drowning his wife in a bathtub of scalding water in Lorain, Ohio. Bennett's sensational trial pitted an aggressive, mercurial county prosecutor against the author's father, a civil trial attorney who had never before defended anyone for murder.
The book not only recreates the tension and excitement of this courtroom battle but also highlights the uncertain edge that often divides guilt from innocence. The author was ten years old when he answered the phone late at night when Bennett called his father from jail, seeking his legal representation.
Forty years later and long after his father's death, the author found the Bennett file in the bottom of his mother's closet. From the moment he began reading the papers, the long-forgotten drama cast a spell on him. As he uncovered more and more of the facts, the story he had known as a child disappeared, replaced by one far different.
The Edge of Innocence takes the listener through the criminal justice system and ultimately to the trial, where the listener, like a juror, must sift through competing claims and conflicting evidence. Full of twists and turns and colorful characters, The Edge of Innocence is all the more entertaining because it tells a true story.

Make no mistake, education in America is undeniably broken and careering off the tracks. This viewpoint is shared from the perspective of a father who had children navigating the education system, a husband with a wife actively contributing to the education system, and an entrepreneur who developed and sold educational resources to public schools around the country. These unique vantage points have provided an invaluable insight into the inner workings of the American education system.
This book aims to offer an intimate glimpse behind the curtains, shedding light on the multitude of factors, policy decisions, and political entanglements that have contributed to the current state of our public education system. It serves as a wake-up call, revealing a myriad of issues that the majority of parents are blissfully unaware of, issues that are quietly eroding the foundations of our children's education. In addition to the author's personal experiences, we conducted interviews with 69 former teachers and administrators to gain a comprehensive understanding of how education has evolved over the years, and unfortunately, the findings indicate a negative trend. If parents were aware of these disconcerting revelations, it is safe to assume that they would have legitimate concerns.
The purpose of this book is to reveal the true extent of the challenges that plague our education system in America, in the hopes of igniting a collective desire to take action and secure a brighter future for education in our nation.

Leadership is often talked about—but rarely understood.
Extreme Leadership cuts through the jargon and theory to show what real leadership looks like under pressure. With clarity, edge, and real-world insight, Charles Patton delivers a direct, no-nonsense guide for those who want to lead—and get results.
Leadership isn't about titles, org charts, or abstract models. It's about stepping up when it counts, seeing what others miss, and taking action when others hesitate. Drawing from bold examples and practical lessons, this book explores how extreme leaders think, respond, and succeed—even in chaotic, high-stakes environments.
Written as a supplement to graduate-level courses but accessible to anyone with a stake in leading or following, this book challenges the idea that leadership is soft, outdated, or optional. It's not. It's essential.
If you want the things great people have, you must do the things great leaders do. This book shows you how.
