Sinopse

The adventure is set in South Western France in the aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo. It begins in the small town of La Garenne home to the Ducs of Garenne and their ancestors for more than six hundred years. La Garenne was a place where nothing much ever happened. Even the French Revolution had passed by the town. That is until the suspicious death of a national hero, a man from the town known to all and the subsequent death of his mentor the Duc de Garenne. There was also the unexplained disappearance of a famous hunting dog, Hugo Hound once owned by both of these men.
Then the nation was gripped by the news that a patrol of gendarmes from La Garenne had "vanished off the face of the earth" at least according to their local commandant. A young officer was dispatched from Paris to investigate and discovered that all these events had a common link, the dog, Hugo Hound. To his bewilderment, his orders are changed by the Head of Gendarmerie in Paris. He must now also find Hugo Hound. He finds himself protecting not only Hugo but Hugo's companions including talking bears and lions!
He also meets once again Catherine, whom he had helped rescue from the chaotic aftermath of Waterloo. She and her cousin are far more involved with his task than he could ever have imagined. On a voyage across France to the safety of the Pyrenees, once home to these special beings, he and his charges are pursued by evil in the form of a Werewolf, once the leader of the 'lost patrol' and the renegade son of the late Duc de Garenne, brother to Catherine.

If they’re coming for us, who’s coming for them? A first contact novel from the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of Relic.   The galaxy is vast, and not everything is what it seems. The invasion we always feared is here.   Which begs the question: what do the invaders fear? If not us, then what . . . or who?   And what happens to the would-be peacemakers when they find themselves in the middle of something else? Something dangerous, something highly advanced, and . . . something familiar?   If humanity is wise, we will prepare for everything we can imagine.   But we cannot prepare for what we cannot imagine.   It might be benign, it might be malign, or it might be a sign.   You just have to know where to look.  Praise for Alan Dean Foster   “Provocative.” —The Washington Post   “One of the most consistently inventive and fertile writers of science fiction and fantasy.” —The Times   “Alan Dean Foster is a master of creating alien worlds.” —SFRevu   “Foster knows how to spin a yarn.” —Starlog   “Foster does a fine job with his misfit heroes and even with his minor characters.” —Publishers Weekly

The CAPULET series, set in France & Italy during the spiralling age of the early Renaissance, is the passionate predecessor to the greatest love story of all time, a genesis tale of how Romeo & Juliet's families came to be at each other's throats.
In 1434 two innocent children, Armand & Ilaria, are promised at birth. Despite the rising influence of writers who now advocate couples should marry for love, no one expects this pair to grow to love each other. All expect them to marry and lead their faction - the warrior House of Capulet. And so, drawn together by fate and familial design while France remains on a knife edge with their English enemies, they must learn to survive the glamorous but ruthless world of ambition, passion and power, they’re destined to navigate together. CAPULET is their sprawling tale, often humorous, elegant and heartfelt, sometimes gritty, brutal and relentless, while Ilaria's predilection to experience dark premonitions and cross the path of foresighted mystics, creates expectations that lead them on to heart-stopping moments.
Book 1 - FATE begins in Lyon with the events that lead to the couple's betrothal. The saga completes in Book 6 - FOLLY on a day when the sweeping events of their deadly feud with Romeo's faction cause the Capulet reins of power to be handed to Armand's brother (Juliet's father). At that moment, Armand and Ilaria's daughter Rosaline is eight years old. Eight years later, two months before her cousin Juliet turns fourteen, Rosaline will meet Romeo first and their tragic sequel will be set in motion. But CAPULET is also the story of how a third mighty faction, the House of Paris, led by a fiery young Duchess, joins in their rivalry. She swears their loyalty to one side but adds fresh powder to the rivalry which threatens to ignite in both directions at once. Appetites for ambition abound in CAPULET yet so does a thirst for revenge. Who will survive them?
