Sinopse

From the late nineteenth century until World War II, competing spheres of professional identity and practice redrew the field of history, establishing fundamental differences between the roles of university historians, archivists, staff at historical societies, history teachers, and others. In History’s Babel, Robert B. Townsend takes us from the beginning of this professional shift—when the work of history included not just original research, but also teaching and the gathering of historical materials—to a state of microprofessionalization that continues to define the field today. Drawing on extensive research among the records of the American Historical Association and a multitude of other sources, Townsend traces the slow fragmentation of the field from 1880 to the divisions of the 1940s manifest today in the diverse professions of academia, teaching, and public history. By revealing how the founders of the contemporary historical enterprise envisioned the future of the discipline, he offers insight into our own historical moment and the way the discipline has adapted and changed over time. Townsend’s work will be of interest not only to historians but to all who care about how the professions of history emerged, how they might go forward, and the public role they still can play.

The illuminati are a shadowy group that controls the world from behind the scenes. They're pulling the strings of the financial elite, government, the media, and even natural disasters.

The illuminati are in fact aliens. This is not a conspiracy theory, this is fact. The illuminati are a secret society that has been manipulating the world for centuries. They are responsible for major political and social events, and they control the everything. They are secretive and powerful, and they are not human. In fact, their bloodline goes back millennia to the very moment they genetically manipulated the human race on Earth.

The evidence is clear. The illuminati are aliens, and they are not our friends. They are manipulative and controlling, and they are hiding in the shadows. If you're not careful, they will control you too.

Racial Justice for the Long Haul...

Many White Christians feel convicted when they hear of racial injustice but aren't sure what they can do. They often become overwhelmed by deep divisions, conflicting priorities, and historical burdens. They need a clearer vision for engagement with racial justice and reconciliation that goes beyond easy answers or simplistic optimism. Isn't there anyone who has found a way forward?

Anthropologist Christine Jeske has studied precisely this question. Her one-of-a-kind research started by asking people of color about their work and experience with White advocates of racial justice. She then studied the postures, ideas, and actions of those they recommended as positive examples.

In Racial Justice for the Long Haul, Jeske presents her findings on what makes for an effective, enduring approach, revealing shared threads in the lives of White Christians who have faithfully embraced the call to advocate for justice. By abandoning simplistic answers and confronting the depths of suffering and injustice, they discover a bold way of hope that perseveres. This book features a unique methodology of interviews with Christian leaders of color and White advocates, makes qualitative ethnographic research accessible, and provides concrete examples of how White Christians can grow―and persist―in working for racial justice.

On his death in the autumn of 2006, Milton Friedman was lauded as "the grandmaster of free-market economic theory in the postwar era" by the New York Times and "the most influential economist of the second half of the 20th century" by the Economist. Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1976, Friedman was both a highly respected economist and a prominent public intellectual, the leader of a revolution in economic and political thought that argued robustly in favor of virtues of free markets and laissez-faire policies.

Milton Friedman on Economics: Selected Papers collects a variety of Friedman's papers on topics in economics that were originally published in the Journal of Political Economy. Opening with Friedman's 1977 Nobel Lecture, the volume spans nearly the whole of his career, incorporating papers from as early as 1948 and as late as 1990. An excellent introduction to Friedman's economic thought, Milton Friedman will be essential for anyone tracing the course of twentieth-century economics and politics.

Ian Prior is one of the most articulate and successful parent-activists in the United States. This is not a boring education book. With real world lessons and funny anecdotes readers can connect with, Ian explains how families can win the battle to stop divisive and dangerous concepts rooted in critical race theory and other dangerous left-wing ideologies from spreading to their schools. He convincingly makes the case that the Left envisions a public education system in America where children are no longer the responsibility of their parents but rather mere wards of the state.   You’ll be shocked and amused by the outrageous stories in Ian’s suburban county that unexpectedly became ground zero for the parents’ rights movement. This sign-of-the times book helpfully explains the confusing and infuriating cultural moment we find ourselves in.Parents of the World, Unite! is an indispensable book for American families who believe they should be able to raise their children without government interference in their moral, religious, and ethical choices -- and are ready to join a revolution of parents.
