Synopsis

The book of Nehemiah is about starting over again. Nehemiah, one of Israel's great leaders, tells firsthand the powerful story of rebuilding ancient Jerusalem's walls after the exile. In the face of great odds, this rebuilding represented the people's renewal of faith, their overcoming of national shame, and the reformation of their conduct.
In this volume, Raymond Brown vividly sketches Nehemiah's historical and social setting and demonstrates the book's striking relevance for today. He explores the dominant themes of Nehemiah's doctrine of God, passion for Scripture, experience of prayer, and example of leadership. In describing Nehemiah the man, Brown concludes, "He must surely be regarded as one of the most inventive and resilient personalities in the rich tapestry of Old Testament biography."
Part of the beloved Bible Speaks Today series, The Message of Nehemiah offers an insightful, readable exposition of the biblical text and thought-provoking discussion of how its meaning relates to contemporary life. Used by students and teachers around the world, The Bible Speaks Today commentaries are ideal for those studying or preaching the Bible and anyone who wants to delve deeper into the text.
This revised edition of a classic volume features lightly updated language and Scripture quotations with a new interior design.

She only agreed to spend a few months in Colton, Idaho, to prove to her parents that her Aunt Bertie doesn’t need to be shipped off to a nursing home. There’s just one problem—Dr. John Flynn.
Arrogant, infuriating, far too good-looking for his own good, and—unfortunately—the one man standing in her way.
What's worse, Aunt Bertie is convinced he’s Ellie’s soulmate. Yeah, Ellie is pretty positive her real soulmate wouldn’t be so full of himself.
When it looks like Dr. Flynn might take her parents’ side, Ellie is ready to declare all-out war. She just wasn’t counting on Aunt Bertie’s not-so-subtle matchmaking attempts…or the inconvenient sparks flying between her and the enemy.
Because man, the guy can kiss.
Now, it’s not just Aunt Bertie’s future on the line—Ellie’s heart might be in trouble, too.
This small-town sweet romantic comedy has plenty of heart and lots of laughs. Celtic Goddess Grimoire celebrates feminine divinities from across Celtic Europe, a wide territory that historically once included what is now Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and Brittany. In this book, you will meet great goddesses such as Brigid, the Morrigan, Sulis, Rosmerta, Elen of the Ways, and Rhiannon, as well as faery women like Melusine and Morgan Le Fae. The book explores the identity of King Arthur's Lady of the Lake, as well as other Lake Ladies. The book shines a spotlight on the most prominent Celtic female divinities but also includes a section devoted to lesser-known goddesses of the Celtic world, such as the mysterious Nehalennia, who was nearly lost before her shrine was recovered from the depths of the North Sea.

A practical guide to working with these sacred beings, the book includes exercises for celebrating, honoring, invoking, and serving them. Author Annwyn Avalon provides chants, rituals, spells, and meditations. The listener will learn how to build altars, craft charms, and actively invoke these Celtic goddesses so that they become a living, vital presence in one's own spiritual life. In addition, Annwyn Avalon provides listeners with information about the meanings of their names, associated sacred symbols and creatures, as well as their personal powers, realms of strongest influence, and historical context.
