  A young girl is suddenly all alone and on the run from the Nazis in her hometown in Poland. Having survived an aktion that was intended to completely rid Czestochowa of all the Jews, she and her father try to make their way back to their home during the late hours of the night. 
   
   
   
  Confronted by a policeman, Halina Goldberg unexplainably runs away from her father and begins her long journey of survival. When tired of fleeing, she volunteers to go into a work camp. That decision buys her some time because the Germans need labor for the war effort. Halina works in three different camps from the Fall of 1943 to January 1945. At first, the camps are bearable, even though the prisoners are worked hard and fed very little. But as the Germans begin to lose the war, the conditions turn deathly. The Jews become overrun with disease and their captors grow crueler and crueler. 
   
   
   
  As it becomes clear that the war is lost, the SS empty the camps and set over 2,000 women on a four-month long march that would cover over 800 kilometers during one of Europe's coldest winters on record. Halina was one of the only 300 who survived the Volary Death March and finally felt the need to record her hellish story of survival.

  William "Billy" Lendrum Mitchell (December 29, 1879 - February 19, 1936) was a United States Army officer, regarded as the father of the United States Air Force. After serving in France during World War I, Mitchell was appointed deputy director of the Air Service, calling for increased investment in air power which he believed would be vital in future wars. His advocacy antagonized leaders of the US Army and Navy. However, Mitchell demonstrated through a series of Air Force bombing exercises conducted against Naval ships in 1921 and 1923 that his ideas on the superiority of airpower were indeed correct.

  The East–West Schism, also called the Great Schism or the Schism of 1054, was a profound and enduring rupture in communion between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church that took place during the 11th century. This division marked one of the most significant splits in Christian history, fundamentally shaping the religious landscape of Europe and beyond. At the time, Eastern Christianity likely accounted for a narrow majority of Christians globally, with the remainder adhering to Catholicism. The schism was the culmination of centuries of doctrinal, cultural, and political differences between the Greek-speaking East and the Latin-speaking West. 
  The definitive break in 1054 did not emerge in isolation but was preceded by a long history of ecclesiastical conflicts and theological disputes. Among the central issues were the *Filioque* clause—an addition to the Nicene Creed by the Western Church asserting that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son—the use of leavened versus unleavened bread in the Eucharist, the bishop of Rome’s assertion of universal jurisdiction, and the status of the See of Constantinople in relation to the pentarchy (the five major episcopal sees of the early Church). These disagreements highlighted fundamental differences in theological perspectives, liturgical practices, and ecclesiastical authority. 
  The formal steps toward the schism began in 1053 when Greek churches in southern Italy were ordered to conform to Latin traditions, under the threat of closure if they refused. In retaliation, Michael I Cerularius, the Patriarch of Constantinople, ordered the closure of all Latin churches in Constantinople. This act escalated tensions and set the stage for the events of 1054.
