The poems in Pulitzer Prize-winner Rae Armantrout's new book are concerned with "this ongoing attempt/ to catalog the world" in a time of escalating disasters. From the bird who "check-marks morning/once more//like someone who gets up/to make sure// the door is locked" to bat-faced orchids, raising petals like light sails as if about to take flight, these poems make keen visual and psychological observations. The title Go Figure speaks to the book's focus on the unexpected, the strange, and the seemingly incredible so that: "We name things/ to know where we are." Moving with the deliberate precision that is a hallmark of Armantrout's work, they limn and refract, questioning how we make sense of the world, and ultimately showing how our experience of reality is exquisitely enfolded in words. Jennifer Lunn's play Es & Flo is a sharply observed, deeply compassionate drama, coloured with memories of the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. It celebrates an older lesbian relationship, women coming together to fight for what's right, and the healing power of chosen family.
The play was produced by Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and opened there in 2023 before moving to Kiln Theatre, London, directed by Susie McKenna. It won the Popcorn Group Writing Award and the Nancy Dean Lesbian Playwriting Award.

However, as the truth behind his dramatic tale begins to unravel, the villagers' admiration turns to doubt and chaos. What once seemed heroic suddenly appears far less admirable, revealing how easily society can build—and destroy—its heroes based on rumor, storytelling, and imagination.

Synge's play blends humor, irony, and sharp social observation. Through its colorful dialogue and lively characters, it explores themes such as the power of storytelling, the nature of heroism, community expectations, and the tension between myth and reality. The rural setting and rhythmic language give the play a strong sense of Irish cultural identity and folk tradition.

When it first premiered at Dublin's Abbey Theatre, The Playboy of the Western World caused public controversy and protests due to its bold themes and unconventional portrayal of Irish rural life.
