Thomas Middleton's masterful 17th century tragedy is packed with adultery, incest, intrigue, revenge, and inventive methods for murder. Leantio elopes with Bianca against her family's wishes and tries to hide her in the house he shares with his widowed mother. Yet the Duke sees Bianca at the window and is powerfully attracted to her, threatening Leantio's security. Livia, a wealthy widow, delights in intrigue, aiding the Duke to satisfy his desires with Bianca, and bringing together her brother Hippolito with her niece Isabella, despite their familial relationship. Yet even Livia is not immune to love. The final play-within-a-play in Act 5, one of the goriest and most sensational conclusions to a Jacobean tragedy, is also (like the play as a whole) laced with dark humor. Poor Choices is a short story about an intelligent man named Dan who works retail. Dan has a lot of talents and a good education, but he is prone to making bad choices that keep him from really having the type of life that he wants. He works at a company called Game Swap, which is a used video game store not unlike ones you see in the mini-malls across America. The story takes real life inspiration from working at a video game retail store and all the annoyances that come from working within that corporate structure. The focal point of the story isn’t retail life itself though, but more the feelings of the main character Dan.
There are many people who can relate to the type of character Dan is. He feels like he can do so much more with his life, but the worries over paying the bills and making sure things stay normal keep him within this box. He is much like many twenty-something’s who are trying to find their place in the world and figure out exactly where they want to end up. Dan wants to answer all the question marks about his future, but will the poor choices he is prone to making keep him from doing so?

The story of a young girl trapped in an increasingly tiny world.
In the beginning was the mattress. Gradually, other little changes - more bolts on the front door; the gun; the locked cupboard. And she knew in her heart that change was bad.
Based on a true story, Lela & Co. premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in September 2015.
