Sinopsis

In the war-ravaged kingdom of Verne, where volcanic ash cloaks jagged peaks and obsidian fortresses, only those who survive the brutal Trials of Ash in a cratered wasteland can bond with dragons. Freya Veyne, a 19-year-old healer with a rare joint disorder, never dreamed of becoming a dragon rider. Her fragile body with near-constant knee pain forces her to rely on fierce intellect and cunning. But when her hidden fire magic is exposed during a village raid, she's thrust into the Dragonrider Academy, a gritty, dark academic world of high-stakes training and deadly rivalries. As Verne faces an invasion from a neighboring empire wielding forbidden blood magic, Freya bonds with Sylva, a cunning dragon with a fiery temper and cryptic motives. Sparks fly with Dren Thalor, a brooding but clever and cunning rider from a disgraced clan with electrifying and unforgettable storm-blue eyes. His secret rebel ties complicate his enemies-to-lovers story arc. Together, they must protect the kingdom from all threats, including the ubiquitous blood mages. Freya's fire magic, tied to the empire's blood magic, makes her a target—and a potential weapon. Casts of Fire, Casts of Love blends spicy romantasy and intense dragon battles, with a morally gray exploration of loyalty, power, and potential betrayal. With relentless pacing, this illustrated tale of identity and ethics is tailor-made for BookTok hype and dragon-magic fans craving steamy tension and epic stakes.

Billionaire Alexander Kazankov always wins. But he didn't count on high-heeled, drop-dead sexy Lily Bennett getting in the way of his latest deal. She's a distraction he doesn't need, not when he's so close to making things right for his family.

Lily may walk and talk like a Southern piece of fluff, but she's been underestimated before. She's determined to succeed—and no entitled, arrogant asshole, especially the too-gorgeous-for-his-own-good-kind, is going to get in her way.

Oil, meet water. Gasoline, meet spark. It's all-out war as these two enemies go toe-to-toe in an ugly, take-no-prisoners battle to prove they're the right choice to be CEO of the same company. All too soon, playing dirty in the boardroom leads to playing even dirtier in the dark. It's destined to end in personal and professional disaster. So why the hell can't they stop?

    Contains mature themes.

Jack Kingston is known for his dominant playing skills on the ice, but off, he’s a down-to-earth guy who values a true connection over a meaningless hookup.
I love being a member of the Pittsburgh Titans, even if my teammates are constantly ribbing me about women who they claim are throwing themselves all over me. Could I go for the easy lay? Sure, but that’s not my style. I’m more of long-term kind of guy. Instead, I’m going to keep doing what I do best—killing it out on the ice. Everything else will fall into place…eventually.
That time comes sooner than expected, in the most unlikely of ways. At the rink to watch our goalie’s kids play Peewee hockey, I meet Willa Montreaux and somehow, by the end of that interaction, I’ve offered to help her coach the Ice Pups. Altruism or were there other intentions in that offer? A little of both, if I’m being honest.
As the time I spend with Willa increases, I am absolutely certain I want even more. She’s gorgeous, sure, but that’s superficial. Willa is also funny, loving, determined and smart. SO smart. Doctor smart. Probably too intelligent for a jock like me, but that’s not going to stop me from shooting my shot.
Not looking for anything more than a fling and concerned that she’s too old for me, Willa doesn’t want to venture into anything serious. I’m willing to put in the work and give her the space she needs to come to terms with the fact that the connection we have is far more than physical. Willa and I are end game, but I’m willing to play into overtime if that’s what it takes to walk away with her by my side.

Philip K Dick held a fascination for nuclear war and robots. In this excellent short story, robots or AI have taken over the raising of children.
