Sinopse

I've been trying to write poetry for a long time. This book is the first poem I wrote. There are stories of life in poems and there are many fictional worlds. If you like poems, I'll try to write more in the next book. I wrote these poems for everyone, big and small.
In the poem, we find the words of our daily lives. There are many obstacles in our daily life, many problems. In these poems, we find the clue to that lost life.

The protagonist, Mattia Pascal, finds that his promising youth has, through misfortune or misdeed, dissolved into a dreary dead-end job and a miserable marriage. His inheritance and the woman he loved are stolen from him by the same man, his eventual wife and mother-in-law badger him constantly, and his twin daughters, neglected by their mother, can provide him with joy only until an untimely death takes them. Death robs him even of his beloved mother.
To escape, he decides one day to sneak off to Monte Carlo, where he encounters an amazing string of luck, acquiring a small fortune. While reading a newspaper on his return home, he discovers, to his immense shock and delight, that his wife and mother-in-law declared an unknown corpse to be his own. Faced with this sudden opportunity to start afresh, he first wanders about Europe, and finally settles down in Rome with an assumed identity. His character develops in unexpected, even admirable, ways.

“All Lesser Creatures” takes an often-used mythologic monster idea and twists into a new direction. You will see the more familiar take on the idea in the story as well but also as seen in a very different light. This story realizes the full potential of a certain basic idea, just as the main character realizes the full and awesome potential of he and his kind, who previously believed themselves to be without defenses. The story is comprised of:
    • A simple man who suffers an accident leaving him with a bizarre condition
    • This man coming to accept and even enjoy his new lifestyle thanks to newfound community
    • Several unusual creatures with amazing abilities
    • Unexpected twists on an old idea, taking it to new places and to a new level
    • A tale of triumph over vicious oppression by the downtrodden underdogs
    • A new appreciation for a wide variety of animals
“All Lesser Creatures” is a refreshing and positively affirming story. If you feel like the world has got you down and there’s nothing you can do about it, just look to the example set by Gary Landry (the main character) and his friends. Your situation and the appropriate response will almost certainly not be the same but the message is clear: don’t underestimate or give up on yourself. Realize your true potential.

The authoritative edition of All’s Well That Ends Well from The Folger Shakespeare Library, the trusted and widely used Shakespeare series for students and general readers.Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well is the story of its heroine, Helen, more so than the story of Bertram, for whose love she yearns. Helen wins Bertram as her husband despite his lack of interest and higher social standing, but she finds little happiness in the victory as he shuns, deserts, and attempts to betray her.The play suggests some sympathy for Bertram. As a ward to the French king, he must remain at court while his friends go off to war and glory. When Helen cures the King, he makes Bertram available to her. To exert any control over his life, Bertram goes to war in Italy.Helen then takes the initiative in furthering their marriage, undertaking an arduous journey and a daring trick. Few today, however, see a fairy-tale ending. This edition includes: -Freshly edited text based on the best early printed version of the play -Full explanatory notes conveniently placed on pages facing the text of the play -Scene-by-scene plot summaries -A key to the play’s famous lines and phrases -An introduction to reading Shakespeare’s language -An essay by a leading Shakespeare scholar providing a modern perspective on the play -Fresh images from the Folger Shakespeare Library’s vast holdings of rare books -An annotated guide to further readingEssay by David McCandlessThe Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, is home to the world’s largest collection of Shakespeare’s printed works, and a magnet for Shakespeare scholars from around the globe. In her heady, debut pamphlet Myrtle, Ruth Wiggins celebrates the primal forces of nature and the human heart. Interweaving the ancient with the modern world, she explores fertility and death, in poems that are imbued with a subtle eroticism. There is a serious playfulness at work here too: a carnival stallholder battles with a spider, and a bored vegetarian contemplates life as a fox, while lovers fear death and separation as the gods look on in amusement. This free-wheeling and assured collection is full of dry humour and wisdom, and is by turns poignant, dark and full of zest.

The second month adds tiny dashes of colour. Nature begins to gently rouse herself for the coming season. Winter begins to withdraw its raw and elemental fingers in soft remembered surrender to the natural cycle that welcomes Spring.
Our classic poets, in 50 poems of inky verse, reveal all manner of events, sights and sounds. Among their ranks are Longfellow, Coleridge, Dickinson, Teasdale, Clare and a wealth of many others, who, with their thoughts and desires express the world in lines of revelation.

Duluth, Minnesota. 1934. A community living on a knife-edge. Lost and lonely people huddle together in the local guesthouse.
The owner, Nick, owes more money than he can ever repay, his wife Elizabeth is losing her mind, and their daughter Marianne is carrying a child no one will account for.
So, when a preacher selling bibles and a boxer looking for a comeback turn up in the middle of the night, things spiral beyond the point of no return…
In Girl from the North Country, Conor McPherson beautifully weaves the iconic songbook of Bob Dylan into a show full of hope, heartbreak and soul. It premiered at The Old Vic, London, in July 2017, in a production directed by Conor McPherson, and later transferred to the West End, Broadway, Australia, Ireland and toured the UK.
