Sinopsis

The Bottomless Lake of our Legend was reputed an outlet of the Bottomless Pit. No creature of our world had ever swum its lethal ebb and flow, but on the nights of the great Sabbaths, when the wizardry of all Italy swept to its beetling cliffs as to their Holiest of Holies, its waters eructed to the rendezvous the retinue of Hell—the wealth of an argosy would not have tempted a Lombard to venture within eye-shot of it after nightfall. Who, then, are these two men of mortal mould that outstare the depths of the Bottomless Lake itself, and not only that but from the very horns of the Altar of the Black Mass, and not only that, but at the witching hour forsooth of night, when graveyards yawn, and the everlasting doors of Tophet open wide? Their guardian angels of good have surely turned from their right hands, and their evil guardians of the left are grinning from horn to horn. With the chime of twelve from the distant steeple dies out the last echo of admonition, and they begin to work out such unhallowed errand as alone can have brought them to so damned a spot; the elder of the two in a tone of hushed solemnity addresses a series of questions to the younger, who responds to them with an equally awful gravity, after the manner of a catechism.

“To live forever... and long for death.”
What begins as a desperate act of heartbreak turns into an eternal sentence in this haunting short tale by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the famed author of Frankenstein. When young Winzy drinks a mysterious elixir meant to cure the torment of love, he unwittingly trades fleeting pain for everlasting regret.
Blessed—or cursed—with youth that never fades, Winzy watches the world age around him. Love, joy, grief, and time twist into a tragic knot of memories as centuries slip by and those he cherishes wither and pass.
The Mortal Immortal is a chilling meditation on desire, mortality, and the heavy burden of immortality. In a world where everything changes but him, Winzy’s greatest question remains unanswered: Is he truly immortal… or merely doomed to wait for death forever?
Narrated with intimate melancholy by Christopher Mireider, this gothic classic remains as resonant today as when it was first penned.

    I need to quit.

I've been telling myself that every day for the last six months. I knew as soon as I started working for Hudson as his virtual assistant that this wasn't going to work out. He's rude, bossy, and a total grouch.

I've only managed to last this long because whenever he starts being a jerk, I sass him right back. Enough is enough though. It's time for me to find a new job.

Except when I finally meet him in person to tell him that I quit, he refuses to accept my resignation.

Suddenly, instead of the grumpy jerk that I'm used to, Hudson seems to be trying to be almost . . . nice. It must be a trap. Except he says that it's something else.

Can I trust him when he says that we're fated to be?

    Contains mature themes.

A father and his estranged daughter reconnect to try to understand a decades-old trauma in this haunting novel, part ghost story, part lyrical exploration of family, aging, and how we remember the past.

At age eleven, Helen disappeared in the wilderness of Mount Rainier National Park while camping with her father, Benjamin. She was gone for almost a week before being discovered and returned to her family. It is now twenty-five years later, and after more than two decades of estrangement, Helen and Benjamin reconnect at his home in Portland, Oregon, to try to understand what happened during the days she was gone. Meanwhile, Benjamin meets an odd pair, a woman and boy who seem driven to help him learn more about Helen's disappearance and send him on a journey that will lead to a murder house, uncanny possession, and a bone-filled body of water known as Sad Clown Lake, a lake "that could only be found by getting lost, that was never in the same place twice."

Passersthrough is a haunted, starkly lyrical exploration of family, memory, and the border between life and death.
