A heartfelt guide for meeting difficult times with mindfulness, compassion, and courage—from a psychotherapist and Buddhist practitioner who learned from her own crisis.

Using personal examples from her own recent bardo crisis—undergoing cancer treatment during the pandemic—and offering contemplative prompts for inner-reflection and a meditation practice in each chapter, psychotherapist and Buddhist practitioner Susan Chapman demystifies the three main types of fear people experience (frozen, awake, and core), and how to meet each with love. This heartfelt guide from someone who's been there and done the work will help us get through life's challenges and restore our equilibrium, while also inviting a valuable opportunity for personal growth.

Which Way Is Up? draws from traditional Buddhist teachings on the bardo, a Tibetan word most often associated with the period between death and rebirth. Chapman likens the bardo to abrupt episodes in our lives when things seem to turn upside down and we can't find our footing. In such times of not-knowing, our fearful mind tends to panic trying to make sense out of our experience. Instead, Chapman meets the listener in their groundlessness to show how these turning points can force us to let go of our assumptions about the future and allow something new to be reborn.

From the author of the landmark Secret Teachings of All Ages comes two classic works on the mysterious origins and unique mission of America: The Secret Destiny of America and America’s Assignment with Destiny.
Focusing on often-forgotten moments in history, Manley P. Hall proposes that there was a Great Plan put forth 1000 years before our nation’s founding. Humanistic and mystical organizations wished for the continent to be the location for an experiment in self-government and religious freedom. As one of the leading esoteric scholars of the 20th century, Hall offers an intriguing view of our past, discussing everything from the symbolism of the Great Seal of the US to the prophecy announced at George Washington’s birth.

Unlock the more straightforward side of The Grass is Singing with this concise and insightful summary and analysis! This engaging summary presents an analysis of The Grass is Singing by Doris Lessing, which tells the story of a white couple in Southern Rhodesia during apartheid. Dick Turner is a farmer who continually struggles but fails to make a profit on his farm; Mary gave up her independence and married him out of shame at still being single in her 30s. Their marriage is failing and they both feel frustrated with their lives and frequently lash out at the black workers on the farm where they live. However, Mary, starved of social interaction and intellectual stimulation, gradually becomes close to the black cook Moses, with disastrous consequences for the Turners and for their white compatriots. The Grass is Singing is an excellent example of the realism for which Lessing's writing is celebrated, and remains one of her best-known and most acclaimed works.Find out everything you need to know about The Grass is Singing in a fraction of the time! This in-depth and informative reading guide brings you:• A complete plot summary• Character studies• Key themes and symbols• Questions for further reflectionWhy choose BrightSummaries.com?Available in print and digital format, our publications are designed to accompany you on your reading journey. We write to you with an urgent call to immerse yourself in the pages of "Silenced Voices: Testimonies of Life in Palestine." This book is much more than a set of stories; It is a bridge connecting distant realities and a window to the profound experiences of life in Palestine, a place where voices have historically been silenced.
Each page of this book offers a unique opportunity to understand the complexity of Palestinian history, from roots and identity to resilience, childhood, women, memories of the land, and reflections toward the future. It is an invitation to look beyond conventional narratives, to listen to individual voices that have been eclipsed by the noise of conflict and geopolitical tensions.
By reading "Silenced Voices," you will help challenge stigmas and prejudices, humanize the experiences of those who have faced unimaginable challenges, and build bridges of understanding. This book is a call to action, a reminder of the importance of empathy and solidarity in building a more just world.

Where is the driving force for change? Who envisions a better future, crafts the path to democracy, and strategizes the movement? Who fuels it with revolutionary zeal and the will to power? And where is the force that can fulfill the unfinished promise of Iran's Constitutional Revolution? In three words: The Iranian Citizenry. Thirty years before Iran's Constitutional Revolution, the treatise One Word (Yek Kalameh) ignited a movement—challenging absolute monarchy, advocating the rule of law, and empowering the people. Now, Two, Three Words (Do, Se Kalameh) draws inspiration from the courageous youth of Iran. It articulates their aspirations, forges a new discourse, and unites a narrative that could pave the way for democratic alternatives.

    Small Medium Large - How...

We live in a world of seemingly limitless consumer choice. Yet, as every shopper knows without thinking about it, many everyday goods—from beds to batteries to printer paper—are available in a finite number of "standard sizes." What makes these sizes "standard" is an agreement among competing firms to make or sell products with the same limited dimensions. But how did firms—often hotly competing firms—reach such collective agreements?

In exploring this question, Colleen Dunlavy puts the history of mass production and distribution in an entirely new light. She reveals that, despite the widely publicized model offered by Henry Ford, mass production techniques did not naturally diffuse throughout the US economy. On the contrary, formidable market forces blocked their diffusion. It was only under the cover of collectively agreed-upon, industry-wide standard sizes—orchestrated by the federal government—that competing firms were able to break free of market forces and transition to mass production and distribution. Without government promotion of standard sizes, the twentieth-century American variety of capitalism would have looked markedly less "Fordist."

Small, Medium, Large will make all of us think differently about the everyday consumer choices we take for granted.
