Sinopse

Sophist by Plato The Sophist (Greek: Σοφιστής; Latin: Sophista) is a Platonic dialogue from the philosopher's late period, most likely written in 360 BC. In it the interlocutors, led by Eleatic Stranger employ the method of division in order to classify and define the sophist and describe his essential attributes and differentia vis a vis the philosopher and statesman. Like its sequel, the Statesman, the dialogue is unusual in that Socrates is present but plays only a minor role.

Instead, the Eleatic Stranger takes the lead in the discussion. Because Socrates is silent, it is difficult to attribute the views put forward by the Eleatic Stranger to Plato, beyond the difficulty inherent in taking any character to be an author's "mouthpiece".

The main objective of the dialogue is to identify what a sophist is and how a sophist differs from a philosopher and statesman. Because each seems distinguished by a particular form of knowledge, the dialogue continues some of the lines of inquiry pursued in the epistemological dialogue, Theaetetus, which is said to have taken place the day before.

Because the Sophist treats these matters, it is often taken to shed light on Plato's Theory of Forms and is compared with the Parmenides, which criticized what is often taken to be the theory of forms.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll ask for a glass of milk—and so begins a whimsical, circular tale of cause and effect. This charming picture book follows a small mouse with big requests as one simple gesture leads to a chain of unexpected and increasingly humorous events. With playful illustrations and a rhythmic narrative, it captures the imagination of young readers while gently exploring the idea that every action has a consequence.

After months of empty stars, the crew finally finds an Earth-like world—but what they expect to claim for profit begins to work on them in subtler ways. The planet is calm, clean, and strangely unfinished, a place where nothing dies and nothing truly lives. For most of the crew, it’s a curiosity to log and leave behind. For one man, it feels like home.
As tensions rise aboard the ship, ambition and authority collide with something harder to measure: the need to belong somewhere that doesn’t demand explanations. When a single crew member refuses to return, the discovery turns personal. The planet stops being a destination and becomes a test—of loyalty, responsibility, and how far a man will go to escape the noise of humanity.
Willie’s Planet is a quiet, devastating story about isolation and purpose, told without spectacle or villains. Its power comes from small decisions made under open skies, where silence can feel like freedom—or like a final answer. This is science fiction that lingers, asking what colonization really means when the cost is measured in human lives, not credits.
