Sinopsis

Last book of the Dead Detective Mysteries. Uneasy and bored with life on the ship, Seamus decides it’s time to do what he’s been avoiding for six decades of Earth Time. Though he knows his wife and best friend teamed up to murder him, there are things about the crime he doesn’t understand, as well as emotions he hasn’t yet been able to face. With fellow Dead Detective Ronnie to assist, Seamus returns to 1953 to face his memories and answer questions that remain about his death.
In a world much different from today, in an America where questions of race and social justice are just beginning to be addressed, the two detectives find lots going on under the surface. Chicago offers opportunities for crime on many levels, and there’s always someone around to take advantage of those with secrets. Seamus learns a shocking truth about his wife and the secret she kept from him, one that eventually led to his murder. In the end he and Ronnie must work to save the lives of two young cops brave enough—maybe foolhardy enough—to try to discover what really happened the night Seamus Hanrahan died.

Carmilla published in 1872 was one of the first vampire novels and is certainly among the most sensuous with its strong lesbian overtones. It is a classic Gothic novella set deep in the enchanted forests of Styria; a land still haunted by superstition and of course vampires. Carmilla predates fellow Irishman Bram Stoker's Dracula by twenty-five years, and reading both, you will see the influence of Carmilla on Dracula. This edition has notes and an introduction by Tony Walker, who narrates the audiobook version and who is the producer of the Classic Ghost Stories Podcast.

I'm Cisco Suarez and this is the end of the line.
I've been beaten, shackled, killed once or twice, but hey, who's counting? I put my foot down at being lit up like a candle at my daughter's tenth birthday party. Some things you take personal.
Revenge won't be easy. The Miami voodoo underground turned on me. An uppity wizard cartel is creeping into my business. If that's not enough, I keep seeing the same damn black cat everywhere I go. Talk about crummy luck.
None of it matters. I've got laser focus on my archenemy, a jinn with a knack for fire. News flash: I'm done being burned. Connor Hatch is going down for good, even if I have to drag him to hell myself.
If you like Jim Butcher, Shayne Silvers, Steve McHugh, or John Conroe, then you are going to love Domino Finn's contribution to the smart-talking MC that's perpetually stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"The Cats of Ulthar" is a short story written by American fantasy author H. P. Lovecraft in June 1920. In the tale, an unnamed narrator relates the story of how a law forbidding the killing of cats came to be in a town called Ulthar. As the narrative goes, the city is home to an old couple who enjoy capturing and killing the townspeople's cats. When a caravan of wanderers passes through the city, the kitten of an orphan (Menes) traveling with the band disappears. Upon hearing of the couple's violent acts towards cats, Menes invokes a prayer before leaving town that causes the local felines to swarm the cat-killers' house and devour them. Upon witnessing the result, the local politicians pass a law forbidding the killing of cats.
