Sinopse

I'VE ALWAYS been captivated by the narrative of Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve's first two sons.

It's possible they were twins. Eve, according to the Bible, conceived twice and delivered twice.

Now Adam recognized Eve as his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, declaring, "I have obtained a man from the Lord." Then she carried his brother Abel one more (Gen. 4:1-2).

They may have had similar appearances, but they pursued two different careers.

Cain was a tiller of the ground, while Abel was a sheep keeper (Gen. 4:2).

It was only natural that the children were taught the notion of giving presents to the Lord after what their parents had gone through.

Julia Broeder is only six months shy of graduating from the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania when one small decision spirals out of control and results in her expulsion. Hoping to travel the world as a missionary doctor, her only choice is to return back home . . . or throw herself upon the mercy of Ashton Carlyle.

Formal and straight-laced, Ashton is not pleased to see an expelled Julia arrive at his Manhattan office. His position as an attorney for the Vandermark family's world-famous shipping empire entails taking care of the Broeders, longtime employees of the Vandermarks. But Ashton has no intention of using his employer's resources in defense of Julia's impulsive and reckless actions.

What Ashton does not expect are a scathing reprimand from none other than the Vandermark family patriarch and the bewildering resistance from Julia herself when he's forced to change his tune. At an impasse, Ashton and Julia are unprepared for the revelations that arise or the adventure that awaits them.

In this novella, award-winning novelist Elizabeth Camden introduces readers to the world of the grand Hudson River Valley estate Dierenpark and the enigmatic Vandermark family. Includes an extended preview of Until the Dawn, Camden's full-length Dierenpark novel.

Secrets of Greek Mysticism is the first spiritual book about the Greek gods and goddesses written by a native, practicing priest of Hellenic Polytheism. It goes beyond the simplistic and archetypical representation of the Greek pantheon and reintroduces the gods and goddesses from a theological perspective. Rather than presenting the gods and goddesses as symbolic, lifeless figures one can use to embellish spiritual practice, Secrets of Greek Mysticism teaches listeners how to find each god or goddess within them. This is achieved through grounded insights on the gods' virtues as they relate to modern life, explaining the deeper spiritual meaning of popular myths, practicing guided meditations, activating the gods' energies with mantras and hymns, and performing rituals.

Secrets of Greek Mysticism makes the claim that for the Divine Feminine to rise, the Divine Masculine needs to rise, too. Rather than solely focusing on female goddesses, it brings together the male and female deities of the Greek pantheon to help listeners experience divine union. Secrets of Greek Mysticism covers: the twelve gods' birth stories, essence, and virtues; how to live and work with the gods; setting up altars; the foundation of ancient Greek spirituality, cosmology, and theology; and symbols, hymns, and meditations to guide listeners' practice of connecting with the gods.

Natural theology is a matter of debate among theologians and Christian philosophers. In this book, top scholars in the fields of theology and Christian philosophy introduce readers to five prevailing views on the topic. Contributors include John C. McDowell, Alister E. McGrath, Paul K. Moser, Fr. Andrew Pinsent, and Charles Taliaferro.

The contributors offer constructive approaches from major perspectives--contemporary, Catholic, classical, deflationary, and Barthian--in a multiview format to provide readers with the "state of the question" on natural theology. Each unit consists of an introduction by a proponent of the view under discussion, responses from the other contributors, and a final response by the proponent. James Dew and Ronnie Campbell provide a helpful introduction and conclusion.

Offering a model of critical thinking and respectful dialogue, this volume provides a balanced, irenic approach to a topic of ongoing debate. Students of theology, Christian philosophers, and readers interested in the theology and science dialogue will value this work.

As the dam crumbles and water sweeps across the terrain, their battle for justice and survival is just beginning.

When Mackenzie Bardine's brother Aaron was murdered in a drug deal gone wrong, she started a true crime podcast dedicated to exposing "Bullseye," the drug kingpin responsible. But her protective heart has never let go of the blame she places on herself and Aaron's best friend, Gideon Landry. On the run to the wilds of Washington to chase a recent lead, she meets none other than Gideon himself.

While conducting a wilderness survival class in remote Washington, Gideon never expected to cross paths with Mackenzie, and he's certainly not interested in helping her after he's already declined to participate in her vigilante podcasting. He carries a mountain of guilt about Aaron's fatal choices, but not for the reasons Mackenzie suspects.

As killers begin to circle Mackenzie like sharks, it's clear to Gideon she's in over her head, and in light of his troubled past with her brother, he can't bring himself to ignore her perilous situation. Then a flood threatens the town, turning their investigation into a race to escape the raging waters and the wrath of a powerful kingpin who wants to sink them both.

Practical Course in Shamanism from Distant Lands is an audiobook that reveals the traditional shamanic practices of our ancestors—practices you can apply fully or in part within your own spiritual work to improve your life and the lives of those around you on every level and in every area.
From this audiobook, you will learn deep techniques of divination, ancient healing rituals, and much more.
Many listeners may have heard of shamanism; some may have read about it or even be initiated shamans. Others may practice different forms of magic and feel drawn to ancestral shamanic traditions. If so, you are in the right place.
Shamanism is the oldest form of magic on our planet: wild, powerful, and ancient. Yet traditional practices can feel challenging today because we think and live differently from our ancestors. It is essential to study and respect the old traditions, even though some elements have been lost or no longer fit modern life. At the same time, every practitioner’s path naturally reflects the heritage of their own lineage.
In this audiobook, you will learn to apply shamanic knowledge in a simple and accessible way. You will discover ancient methods of communicating with the spirits of ancestors and the spirits of nature. You will learn how shamans travel into other worlds and through layers of time, how dream magic works, how shamanic totems appear in a person’s life, and how the forces of sound, rhythm, and throat singing shape shamanic practice.
As you listen, you will be able to begin practicing independently, and if you are already experienced, this audiobook may deepen your understanding even further.
