Sinopse

What hope have so few against so many?

Halvaria. The very name conjures images of a vast empire, determined to rule the world of Eiddenwerthe.

For over a thousand years, their mighty armies have crushed all who opposed them. Now, it’s poised to complete the Great Dream, the conquest of the entire Continent. Their legions stand ready to march, the navy prepared to sweep their enemies from the seas. All that remains is to secure their western border by subjugating an upstart kingdom of mercenaries.

With the threat of Halvaria looming, Merceria is forced to send warriors to their allies, leaving them with little to safeguard their borders. Barely united by a fragile peace, the four kingdoms battle civil unrest that threatens to destroy everything from within, leaving them ripe for invasion.

There is no turning back. The might of the world’s greatest empire lies on the cusp of annihilating its newest enemy! Merceria will do everything in its power to survive, but even that might not be enough.

The eyes of the empire are upon Merceria in Enemy of the Crown, Paul J Bennett’s shocking twelfth book in the Heir to the Crown Series.

Prepare for the inevitable clash of arms as you plunge into your copy of Enemy of the Crown!

There’s something in the dark … but is Lem’s imagination worse than reality?
Out in the vast emptiness of the galaxy, anything can happen. It’s a fact that Lem and her trusty companion Spock know all too well.
Sometimes, the things lurking in the darkness are all in your head. Then again, maybe there really is something out there.
With her talking dog and an infuriatingly literal AI by her side, Lem must rely on nothing but her strength and wits to help her.
As a humorous homage to Arthur C Clarke’s classic A Walk in the Dark, this short adventure is a not-actually-scary sci-fi horror story that’s perfect for fans of Martha Wells and John Scalzi.

Later Than You Think by Fritz Leiber - It's much later. The question is ... how late?
Obviously the Archeologist's study belonged to an era vastly distant from today. Familiar similarities here and there only sharpened the feeling of alienage. The sunlight that filtered through the windows in the ceiling had a wan and greenish cast and was augmented by radiation from some luminous material impregnating the walls and floor. Even the wide desk and the commodious hassocks glowed with a restful light. Across the former were scattered metal-backed wax tablets, styluses, and a pair of large and oddly formed spectacles. The crammed bookcases were not particularly unusual, but the books were bound in metal and the script on their spines would have been utterly unfamiliar to the most erudite of modern linguists. One of the books, lying open on a hassock, showed leaves of a thin, flexible, rustless metal covered with luminous characters. Between the bookcases were phosphorescent oil paintings, mainly of sea bottoms, in somber greens and browns. Their style, neither wholly realistic nor abstract, would have baffled the historian of art.
A blackboard with large colored crayons hinted equally at the schoolroom and the studio.
In the center of the room, midway to the ceiling, hung a fish with irridescent scales of breathtaking beauty. So invisible was its means of support that—also taking into account the strange paintings and the greenish light—one would have sworn that the object was to create an underwater scene.
The Explorer made his entrance in a theatrical swirl of movement. He embraced the Archeologist with a warmth calculated to startle that crusty old fellow. Then he settled himself on a hassock, looked up and asked a question in a speech and idiom so different from any we know that it must be called another means of communication rather than another language. The import was, "Well, what about it?"

Clifford Simak deals with the implications of time travel in his own unique way in this story. What if a group of guys did it on their own, without any help from government or industry? On a shoe-string, so to speak? Would anyone believe them? What would you do if you could go back 150,000 years to a time when mastodons and saber toothed tigers roamed North America? And what happens when they run out of money? All these questions are explored in the usual humorous, wry Simak way in this story.

When someone tries to threaten me by telling me they know my name, I take that personally.

G'day. I'm not really a pet anymore, but you might as well keep calling me Pet. It's not like I'm gunna tell you my name anyway. And if I sound stroppy, well, I am. First, I was threatened. Now, someone has cut off my house from the human world and left my emotional support vampire on the human side. On the inside, it's just me and an emotionally compromised fae; outside, a closed arena in the world Behind, where everyone is out to kill us and a few of that everyone might actually be capable of it.

Yep. The Heirling Trials have begun, and it seems like it's either be king or be dead when it comes to the world Behind . . .
