  The Thirty Years' War, a protracted and catastrophic conflict, raged from 1618 to 1648, primarily within the borders of the Holy Roman Empire. Often regarded as one of the most devastating wars in European history, it is estimated that between 4.5 to 8 million people perished as a result of the conflict, with some regions of Germany experiencing population losses exceeding 50%. This war, though often thought of in isolation, was deeply interconnected with several other significant European conflicts, including the Eighty Years' War, the War of the Mantuan Succession, the Franco-Spanish War, and the Portuguese Restoration War. 
  For much of the history of the conflict, historians regarded the Thirty Years' War as a continuation of the religious struggles that had begun during the Reformation and were seemingly concluded with the Peace of Augsburg in 1555. The Peace of Augsburg had divided the Holy Roman Empire into Catholic and Lutheran states, but the rapid spread of Protestantism, particularly beyond these established boundaries, steadily eroded Imperial authority in the years that followed. While religion undeniably played a role in sparking the conflict, scholars generally agree that the broader struggle for European supremacy between the Habsburgs of Austria and Spain, and the House of Bourbon in France, fueled the war's escalation and far-reaching impact.

  BIPOC and LGBTQI relationships have unique needs because minority stress, racialized trauma, and transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia can compromise one's ability to feel safe enough to connect to the world and others. Yet, all too often, marginalized couples are let down by conventional therapeutic models which were designed for white, cisgendered, heterosexual clients. 
   
  This book puts forth an innovative therapeutic approach specifically designed for working with the impact of systemic oppression in couples therapy. Divided into three parts, therapists will explore systemic trauma, discover ways to build transformative therapeutic postures via the BIOME and PRIDE models, and make use of actionable methods to support clients.   The modern world has the ancient Romans to thank for the origins of many modern technologies, conveniences, and ideas, from running water, baths, and republican style government to roads. Similarly, by the 3rd century BCE, the Romans were prodigious monument builders, so much so that the memory of the great Roman Republic and the Roman Empire continues to exist within a cityscape of stone. Rome’s public spaces were filled with statues, arches, temples, and many other varieties of monumental images, and each of these structures had its own civic or religious function. At the same time, most were embedded with stories, messages, and symbolism so that they also tended to function as propaganda. These monuments allowed the leading citizens of Rome, especially its emperors, to sculpt their own self-image and embed themselves and their most memorable deeds into the very structure of the Roman city.  
  	While some of the most famous examples, like the Colosseum and Pantheon, remain striking testaments to Roman engineering and technology, many of the scientific advances the Romans ushered into the world were smaller in scope but not necessarily any less important. Indeed, the Roman Empire was not just one of the most technologically advanced civilizations within the ancient world but also proportionately one of the most prolific throughout all history. A substantial number of these innovations were lost following the eventual fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 and the subsequent centuries of decline of the Byzantine Empire starting in the early 7th century, but rediscoveries of their advancements began during the later Middle Ages and the beginning of the Modern Era (c. 1400s). Some of their ideas and designs are only now being improved upon thanks to newer, far more advanced modern technologies.
