Sinopsis

In Ember Market, twelve-year-old Rumi and his friends embark on the Marketplace Money Mission—a day-long contest to turn ten shiny tokens into profit and community impact. As they bake pastries, craft bracelets, and record each expense in a hand-drawn ledger, Rumi negotiates bulk discounts, adapts prices during customer rushes, and plans for emergencies when a mixer breaks. Through savvy budgeting, dynamic pricing, generosity, they learn economies of scale, contingency funds, and the joy of giving back. At dusk, ribbons reward best budgeting, highest profit, and biggest donation. This spirited adventure brings financial literacy to life in a fun, heartwarming tale.

Changeling by Ray Bradbury - Leonard–or the thing that had been Leonard–must be destroyed!
By eight o'clock she had placed the long cigarettes and the wine crystals and the silver bucket of thin shaved ice packed around the green bottle. She stood looking at the room, each picture neat, ashtrays conveniently disposed. She plumped a lounge pillow and stepped back, her eyes squinting. Then she hurried into the bathroom and returned with the strychnine bottle, which she laid under a magazine on an end table. She had already hidden a hammer and an ice pick.
    She was ready.

This audiobook contains what I call my “Africanesque Folktales”. They appear in my audio and print book “Remembering Your Ancestral Fire” and are all original compositions of mine. My teacher, Grand Master Drummer Mamady Keïta said about them, quote:
“Taylor’s folktales draw from his experiences with me and his times in Africa. They contain the stuff of folktales of old. They are a wonderful interpretation of African tradition.” All of my stories are sourced from my decades of study with the djembe, my teachers, especially Mamady Keïta, and my numerous times traveling to Guinea, West Africa. The names are based on a
ctual people I’ve known or heard of; the places, on actual places. The sounds you hear in the village were field recordings I did when I was there. I have and continue to create these Africanesque folktales, but there is a trilogy I created that represent origin, duality and plurality, which are presented in this short audiobook.

In a Beinoni time there should be no war, no terrible illness, no crime. Even if that also means there won’t be any great discoveries, any cures, anything extraordinary. Ezra believes that’s worth fighting for.

In fact, he’s been training most of his life to fight a battle to determine whether Beinoni time continues, or gives way to a more violent, less certain future. He is the Nivchar, the chosen one, with the sign of the scales on his skin. When he comes of age at his bar mitzvah, so too will the gurya, a fiery beast of uncertain form, emerging from a cave to conquer, destroy, and herald a time of conflict.

But Ezra begins to sense that something is very wrong. His friends, his neighbors, the whole world is losing the careful, even balance he’s come to expect in a Beinoni time. It was always uncertain whether he’d be able to best his terrifying, magical foe. But now, is it even possible?

Nobody understands why Angeline is so smart. She could read the first time she picked up a book, she can play the piano without ever having had a lesson, and she even knows what the weather is going to be. But being smart is causing Angeline nothing but trouble. The mean kids in school call her a freak, her teacher finds her troublesome, and even her own father doesn't know what to do with an eight-year-old girl who seems to be a genius. Angeline doesn't want to be either a genius or a freak. She just wants the chance to be herself and be happy. But it's only when she makes friends with a boy the kids call "Goon" and the teacher they call "Mr. Bone" that Angeline gets that chance.

This collection of fifty original New Year nursery rhymes was specifically created for children aged six to eight, drawing inspiration from the beloved tradition of Christmas carols and rhymes but focusing entirely on the themes of transition, celebration, and new beginnings associated with the New Year. The primary purpose of these rhymes is to provide engaging, age-appropriate literary content that introduces young readers to the customs, emotions, and excitement surrounding the end of one year and the start of the next.
Each rhyme, crafted to be approximately 1,000 characters long, explores a unique facet of the holiday. Themes range from the thrilling anticipation of the **New Year's Countdown** and the spectacle of **Fireworks in the Sky** to the quieter, more reflective moments of **Making Resolutions** and watching **The Last Sunset of the Year**. The collection also covers cultural and symbolic elements, such as the meaning of **Auld Lang Syne**, the folklore of **Father Time and Baby New Year**, and various **Good Luck Traditions**.
By blending whimsical storytelling with rhythmic language, the rhymes aim to foster literacy, encourage family discussion about traditions, and cultivate a sense of hope and optimism for the future. The accompanying book cover images, designed to be visually appealing and thematically rich, further enhance the collection's potential as a valuable resource for parents, educators, and young readers looking to celebrate the New Year with joy and imagination. The entire project serves as a comprehensive, festive literary toolkit for welcoming the brand new year.
