Sinopse

“I’m sorry you want to do what?” I asked my boyfriend Rick of 6 years. I looked at him hard as he explained to me how he wanted to try an open relationship, or maybe bring other women into our bed with the both of us.“Cassie, we’ve only ever been with each other. Don’t you want to know what it’s like to be with someone else?”“Um, no.” I whispered in disbelief.“Just give this a chance. You’ll see it’ll be a good thing.”**************"He said since we’ve only been with each other, it would be good to see what others are like.”“Well Angel, if you’re game, I’d love to be an “other” for you.”“I’m game.” Cassie was blindsided when her boyfriend asked for an open relationship. When she does what he asks, she has the time of her life. But when he finds out, she ends up brutally broken in the hospital. She's saved by the biker that showed her the time of her life. Their love can endure anything right? What about the other women that try for him? What happens when he is taken? What happens when her and her sister's real identities gets exposed to the Club? Will they try and collect on the million dollar bounty on their heads? Will they help her save him?

From Far Around They Saw Us Burn is the eagerly awaited first short story collection from Alice Jolly, one of the most exciting and accomplished voices in British fiction today.

The extraordinary range of work gathered here is united by a fascination with how everyday interactions can transform our lives in unpredictable ways. These are stories of lonely people, outcasts and misfits, and the ghosts that inhabit our intimate spaces. The result is a compelling, arresting and, at times, devastating collection - not least in the title story, which was inspired by the tragic true events of the 1943 Cavan orphanage fire.

With an exemplary eye for detail and an intimate understanding of the complexities of human nature, Jolly's collection builds up towards the ultimate question: what is revealed of us when we peel away the surfaces, and is it enough?

Ken Barnard is a computer software designer who has had a series of unrewarding relationships with women his own age. He lives in the bottom half of an old Victorian semi-detached house in Hendon, London, and he is enthusiastic about just two things, computer programming and spanking. Recently he has discovered the pleasure in spanking older women who are often not only willing but desperate to be over Ken’s knee getting their bottoms warmed. In this audiobook, Ken loses a couple of his favourite mature bottoms to spank but they are very quickly replaced with three others. Rose the barmaid loves to be spanked just like her Daddy spanked her when she was a child. Bridget works in the local deli and she can take a lot of spanking. Holly is Bridget’s friend and Rose’s sister and she needs punishment for her naughtiness.

Another fun spanking series: Sweet older ladies can benefit from spankings just as much as naughty little girls. I’m really enjoying this author's genre-busting sexy spanking stories.

Enjoyable: With so many stories about thin young ladies and men being spanked this perspective was very enjoyable. Some nice erotic moments but spanking was the main theme. Well done and a very nice read

A young woman in therapy after committing an act of violence, goes dancing. The Truth About Gators is a short story from Halle Hill’s Good Women, which delves into the lives of twelve Black women across the Appalachian South. Darkly funny and deeply human, Good Women observes how place, blood ties, generational trauma, obsession, and boundaries―or lack thereof―influence how we navigate our small worlds, and how those worlds so often collide in ways we don’t expect.

Two Tales From Herman Melville includes "The Lightning-Rod Man" and "The Bell-Tower." After spending the summer of 1853 in the Berkshire Mountains, where he supposedly had a real life encounter with a lightning-rod salesman, Melville published "The Lightning-Rod Man." At the end of this short story, the lightning-rod salesman is exposed for the fraud that he is. However, that will not keep his successors from fanning out to the Middle West, where lightning storms abound and farmers were gullible. On another level, the story can be interpreted as a confrontation between Good and Evil. Through description and diction, the narrator is understood as a follower of God, someone who believes in The Almighty watching over him. On the other hand, the lightning-rod man is seen as a negative character, someone who only has faith in the product he's peddling. "The Bell-Tower," published in 1856, is the story of an eccentric architect named Bannadonna and his quest to build a magnificent bell-tower. As building progresses, local townspeople begin to hear of mysterious occurrences in the tower, leading to a suspenseful conclusion.

The brilliant new short story collection from the Arthur C. Clarke Award–winning author of The Animals in That Country.

A family of cat farmers gets the chance to set the felines free. A group of chickens tells it like it is. A female-crewed ship ploughs through the patriarchy. A support group finds solace in a world without men.

With her trademark humour, energy, and flair, McKay offers glimpses of places where dreams subsume reality, where childhood restarts, where humans embrace their animal selves and animals talk like humans.

The stories in Gunflower explode and bloom in mesmerising ways, showing the world both as it is and as it could be.

‘Startling, beautiful, and dangerous. McKay is the brightest of talents. We're lucky to have her.’
    ROBBIE ARNOTT, AUTHOR OF LIMBERLOST

‘McKay delivers an assured follow-up to The Animals in That Country in her own singular voice that zeroes in on our anxieties and existential crises with deft and often poetic flair.’ SEQUOIA NAGAMATSU, BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF HOW HIGH WE GO IN THE DARK

‘Gunflower is like a swarm of small earthquakes: nothing is steady anymore, and the world feels bigger, scarier, almost transcendent in its strangeness.’ MILES ALLINSON, AUTHOR OF IN MOONLAND
