Summary

From the nationally award winning playwright, 2013 VSA Playwright Competition, The Kennedy Center, Washington DC. When Raven's world comes crashing down around her and her thoughts turn to suicide, this is exactly what she does. As she swings the last swing of her life, she jumps off, sprouts wings, and flies away to another world where she finds a group of teenagers just her age who accept her into their lives. Led by Crow, the group goes on a quest to lift a curse put on Crow by two witches, hell-bent on killing him, destroying the kingdom, and bringing forth the necromancer known only as the Sorcerer. But as Raven delves deeper into the new world, she discovers a land full of darkness, a world that parallels the one that she left. And when all is said and done, it is she who will have to stand before the Sorcerer and confront him as the fierce defender she never knew she could be.

In Gold Creek, Michigan, legend has it that the ghost of a local grave digger still walks the cemetery, swinging his shovel, looking for his next victim to bury. But when the town’s wealthy undertaker dies, his estranged daughter must contend with the ghosts that haunt her own family …

After she left home at seventeen, River swore she would never return to Gold Creek.

Growing up at the Gold Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens was a nightmare. Classmates constantly teased her for being part of the “Ghoul” family, while her own family denied that she was actually one of them. Her father, undertaker Gregory Gold, certainly never acted like a loving parent. He was far more interested in profiting off other people’s tragedies. But now Gregory has died. And River has surrendered to the pleas of her mother, Fiona, that she come back for his funeral.

But the mourning period is cut short when it’s revealed that Gregory died of poisoning—and Fiona is the number one suspect in his murder. Clearly, Fiona, his third wife and the funeral home’s cosmetologist, is being framed. There are plenty of more-likely suspects, and River is determined to prove her mother’s innocence. That she’ll have to work with the sheriff—her high school enemy—is a small price to pay.

With a fortune at stake, River is sure the killer lies among Gregory’s first two wives and their children and grandchildren. Yet soon, other discoveries will be made, and longstanding secrets unearthed. But when more people are murdered, the danger hits closer to home than River imagined possible. Drawn back into the lives—and lies—of the Golds, she’ll have to use her every resource to keep herself, and her loved ones, safe.

I used to not believe in witches.

Until I enrolled in Dr. Alondra Johansen's metaphysical history class. Bryce, Alondra's super cute teaching assistant, told me my element sign is Earth. I am, in fact, a pragmatic sort of girl. My name is Cadence Hawthorne, but you can call me Katie.

Darkness fell over me and my family during my sophomore year. I thought maybe Alondra could help me with my grief and visions of ghosts. But there was this guy working with her, with a goatee and sardonic smile, who looked more like the devil than a professor. He did terrible things to my best friend, threatening my growing love for Bryce.

Do you believe in ghosts? How 'bout witches? I do. See, it was at Hawthorne University that I learned all about them. Come take a look in my grimoire. I wrote it all down here in Broomstick.
Content warning: Broomstick is a new adult college paranormal romance containing profanity, sexual scenes, adult situations, and, of course, witchcraft.

Everyone has a final secret. I collect them.
My patients aren’t on my ward just to die - they’re here to confess.
Before the body bag, there’s a final reckoning. Murderers. Serial Killers. Monsters in human skin. They tell me their truths because I don’t flinch - and because I’ve made a deal with death.
These are the confessions no one gets to hear.
These are the behind-the-scenes confessions that don’t make it into the Asylum Confession books, the ones I hear but wasn’t sure I’d share.
    Well, now I am.
And you get to hear them.
    One confession at a time.
    Welcome to Only Jack Knows.
    What to expect:
They say curiosity killed the cat—but in my case, it just gave me a job.
In Origins and Death, you’ll find out how I ended up in the deepest, darkest ward of an asylum the world forgot existed. I’ll introduce you to Newman—the man who changed everything for me. A paralyzed rapist with a mouth full of lies and one dying wish: to be remembered.
He was the first to confess.
     He wouldn’t be the last.
This is a guided descent into the minds of the damned. And I’m the one holding the flashlight.
Come closer. You’ll want to hear this.
Because once the dead start talking…
     You can’t unlisten.

Series Placement: Timeless Terrors No. 74
    Description:
The Hollow of the Three Hills is one of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s earliest and most unsettling tales — a somber meditation on guilt, memory, and the inescapable weight of past sins. Told with Hawthorne’s characteristic moral gravity, the story follows a mysterious woman led into a secluded hollow where supernatural visions force her to confront the consequences of her actions.
Rather than relying on overt horror, Hawthorne creates a deeply psychological terror, using spectral voices and ghostly scenes to reveal ruined lives, lost innocence, and hope beyond recovery. The hollow itself becomes a symbolic grave of conscience, where the past rises with merciless clarity and judgment is unavoidable.
Narrated by Amazon-bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this performance brings solemn restraint and emotional intensity to Hawthorne’s prose, emphasizing the tale’s dreamlike atmosphere and quiet despair.
Part of Timeless Terrors, a series dedicated to preserving classic horror, The Hollow of the Three Hills stands as an early example of American psychological terror — a stark reminder that the most frightening hauntings arise not from monsters, but from memory and remorse.
