Sinopsis

“When should you fire someone? The minute you think of it.” That was once the wisdom that Dr. Nicole Price espoused in her leadership workshops. Now, several years later, Price is a firm believer in the power of empathy and second chances. In her candid and insightful narrative, Price will push you out of your comfort zone and open your eyes to the critical need for empathetic leadership and all the benefits that result — for you and your organization. What action was taken when you screwed up on your first job? When was the last time you sought out empathy (you do this every time you ask someone to understand your perspective), and when was the last time you offered it? Who benefited from those exchanges? You did. If you’re ready to take your leadership skills to the next level, join Dr. Price on her empathy journey and learn how to leverage understanding to achieve success.

The Dust Bowl was one of the most devastating environmental disasters in American history, affecting the Great Plains during the 1930s. A combination of severe drought, poor agricultural practices, and economic hardship led to massive dust storms, which wiped out crops, destroyed farmland, and caused widespread suffering. The impact of the Dust Bowl was felt not only in the affected regions but throughout the nation, as it brought attention to the fragile relationship between human activity and the environment.
The Great Plains, which stretches across parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado, was once a region of rich soil and expansive farmland. As settlers moved westward in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the area became a major agricultural hub, known for wheat production. However, the rapid expansion of farming techniques, including over-plowing and monoculture farming, had unintended consequences. The deep-rooted grasses that once protected the soil from erosion were removed, leaving the land vulnerable to the forces of nature.
In the early 1930s, the region experienced a prolonged drought, which exacerbated the situation. Without the natural protection of grasslands, the dry, cracked soil was easily swept up by strong winds, creating massive dust storms that could last for days. These "black blizzards" blotted out the sun and coated everything in a thick layer of dust, suffocating both people and animals. The economic hardships of the Great Depression, which had already affected the nation, further intensified the crisis, leaving farmers struggling to survive.

Product marketing is not a new function. Just like sales, accounting, and so on, it’s been around for decades. The only difference is perception. Ask anyone what a sales rep does, and they’ll tell you they sell stuff. Ask about product marketers and…you’ll get wildly different answers at best, blank expressions at worst.Anyone who really knows product marketing understands the tremendous value it adds to organizations, but not enough people seem to get it, which can make it notoriously hard for product marketing managers (PMMs) to get the recognition they deserve.Product Marketing Misunderstood helps you apply the tools of your own trade to your job—positioning, messaging, research, personas, and more—helping your entire organization value what you do. Created by the founder of the Product Marketing Alliance, this essential guide arms you with the tools you need to show colleagues past, present, and future that product marketing lies at the heart of your company.
