Sinopsis

It was a festive tradition growing up to play pass-the-parcel on Christmas Eve and so my husband and our lodger Sophie were happily tossing around a box that my husband Hank had wrapped earlier.

Turns out though that Hank has wrapped the wrong gift!  When Sophie opens an adult-toy chaos ensues.  I take it from her and explain that Hank meant it for me, but when I go to retrieve the gift later I find it missing.  I march to Sophie’s room confront her, but through the crack in the door I can see her playing and I don’t want to interrupt.  Hank surprises me from behind and soon the pair of us are spying on Sophie as she explores herself.  Hank’s getting excited behind me and we chance a quickie in the corridor.

We end up falling through Sophie’s open door, and with the three of us in varying states of undress and arousal there’s only one thing left to do.  Read about this FFM threesome!

The figures are shocking: 40% of American women and nearly a quarter of American men have been sexually assaulted. While #MeToo stories and the survivors who shared them have helped combat sexual harassment in the workplace, improved police interventions, and resulted in high-profile convictions, the public has only just begun to reckon with the impact sexual assault has on survivors. The ongoing silence points to the still-taboo intersection of two subjects: sexual assault and sexuality.

Sex After Sexual Assault explores this crossroads through the lens of survivors' own stories. Millions of people across the United States experience sexual assault, and 94% of survivors experience symptoms of traumatic stress. These symptoms may affect our sex lives. This crucial book tackles the obstacles a survivor frequently faces while rebuilding a sex life after trauma. Each chapter includes a selection of survivors' stories. These stories illuminate how survivors have navigated their struggles into positive practices and outlooks and reimagined what sex and intimacy can look like.

For survivors it is a guidebook, a road map, true stories to lean on. These are survivors' stories, but the broader picture they paint is for anybody seeking more intentional, connected, and pleasurable sex with the awareness that rape culture impacts everyone.

"Marshaling fine-grained historical detail and scrupulous analysis, Hardwick persuades." —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

As a Black autistic pastor and disability scholar, Lamar Hardwick lives at the intersection of disability, race, and religion. Tied to this reality, he heeded the call to write How Ableism Fuels Racism to help Christian communities engage in critical conversations about race by addressing issues of ableism.

Hardwick believes that ableism—the idea that certain bodies are better than others—and the disability discrimination fueled by this perspective are the root causes of racial bias and injustice in American culture and in the church. Here, he uses historical records, biblical interpretation, and disability studies to examine how ableism in America led to the creation of images, idols, and institutions that perpetuate both disability and racial discrimination.

He then goes a step further, calling the church into action to address the deep-seated issues of ableism that started it all and offering practical steps to help listeners dismantle ableism and racism both in attitude and practice.

We want to raise well-rounded human beings—we're just not quite sure how best to do it. Confounded by rapidly changing gender norms, today's parents are attempting to raise kind, compassionate, emotionally sensitive boys in a society that simultaneously rewards stereotypical masculinity and is increasingly hostile to boys. Teaching boys to respect others will help them in the future—but can make life awfully difficult in the here and now. Making the world a safer place for women and girls is not the only reason to rethink our boy raising practices. Current culture harms our boys too—and they need (and deserve) as much support as girls and women.

Building Boys is written by an in-the-trenches #boymom who intimately understands male development and the challenges currently facing boys and their families. Fink offers ten rules that parents can use to guide their parenting choices throughout their sons' lives. These rules range from emphasizing emotional intelligence to letting your son struggle and ultimately accepting him as he is. Fink explains both the science and research behind each rule as well as stories and anecdotes from families. Parents are taught how to apply the rule to a variety of common parenting challenges. They are as applicable to boys with ADHD, autism, and learning challenges are they are to neurotypical boys.

Master Effective Listening and Foundational Intervention for Counseling and Beyond
Anyone in a helping profession—including professional counselors, spiritual directors, pastoral counselors, chaplains, and lay leaders—needs to develop effective communication skills. But learning these skills is like learning a new language: it takes time and practice to communicate effectively, and lack of practice can lead to declining fluency in this new language.
For both beginning students and seasoned practitioners, Skills for Effective Counseling provides a biblically integrated approach to foundational counseling skills. It trains the reader to use crucial microskills such as perceiving, attending, empathic connection, and authenticity.
Chapters include textbook features such as sample session dialogues, role plays, and a variety of exercises that will engage different learning styles. Interwoven throughout are special topics related to:

    - clinical tips for using skills in real-world counseling settings
    - biblical/theological applications
    - current and seminal research on microskills
    - multicultural counseling
    - the relevance of skills to interpersonal relationships and broader ministry settings
This textbook and the accompanying IVP Instructor Resources include all of the activities and assignments that an instructor might need to execute a graduate, undergraduate, or lay course in foundational counseling skills. Professors teaching in CACREP-accredited professional counseling programs will be able to connect specific material in the textbook to the latest CACREP Standards.
This revised edition of Skills for Effective Counseling has been updated throughout to incorporate recent research and be even more useful for the classroom. This second edition includes a new chapter on video/online counseling, discussion of new approaches to biblical and theological integration, updated references, and expanded instructor resources.

Understanding how right-brain and left-brain differences influence our habits, thoughts, and actions.

Human behavior is lopsided. When cradling a newborn child, most of us cradle the infant to the left. When posing for a portrait, we tend to put our left cheek forward. When kissing a lover, we tend to tilt our head to the right. Why is our behavior so lopsided and what does this teach us about our brains? How have humans always used this information to make our images more attractive and impactful? Can knowing how left-brain right-brain differences shape our opinions, tendencies, and attitudes help us make better choices in art, architecture, advertising, or even athletics?

Side Effects delves into how lateral biases in our brains influence our everyday behavior, and how being aware of these biases can be to our advantage.
